The Goodness In You

To every mortal; irrespective of their position and placement, and without recourse to their background and qualification; there is a measure of goodness in them. But it is our absolute prerogative to give expression to the goodness in us.

Your humanity is not a measure of how much wealth you have acquired, neither is it a measure of your position and inheritance, but it is a function of how you have affected your immediate environment and the world around you. That is why it has been said times and again that "your wealth is not in what you have, but in what you're willing to give".

For each passing day, how many lives do you affect? How many people tell you "thank you" each day for a favour you've done you them? A friend of mine once said that for everyday, he must do something to put smiles in the faces of at least 5 people... To you, it may not mean much, but to the recipient of the favour, it could mean the whole world to them.

Can I tell you this? The goodness you do to someone could go a long way in sustaining them for a very long time. Just have it in mind that you could be someone else's hope of survival, so do not dash their hopes on the ground.

Allow the tender part of you to always override the dark side of you, and you'll appreciate what "heart of humanity" truly means.

No doubt, life could present some challenges that could make it almost impossible to show the goodness in us, but that is where the place of "sacrifice" comes into play. Goodness is a choice, and more often than not, it requires sacrifice to place the right choice.

I challenge you today; for every passing day, make it a priority to show goodness to as many as you can. Remember, the beauty of this is not necessarily when you show goodness to who you expect to gain something in return, but to the soul that truly needs it, without thinking of getting anything in return.
