Help me find her...
Some of you may know that I am an author...for some of you, that's new information.
I'm getting ready to start a new novel series about a woman named Darby Weathers. The books will be set in the 1940's-1950's era, I haven't pinned that down yet.
In an effort to get my creative thoughts going, I'm on a hunt for a photo that will show me what Darby looks like. I'm searching for "her" so to speak.
This is the only photo that has grabbed my attention so far.

That's so cool that you use pictures. I'd love to help you find her! What does Darby Weathers do for a living? Because the first thing that popped into my head was Rosie the Riveter-ish
Sometimes I imagine my stories as movies so I try to find the actor or actress which best depicts the character. I just go ape over Liam Neeson and Joseph Fiennes. Le sigh.
I also imagine my stories as movies. Darby was a semi professional musician who is forced to move to a failing sheep ranch. As the story unfolds we find out why she's there. She must make the ranch profitable and in the process learns how therapeutic music can be and ends up revolutionizing how her whole town thinks/feels about those with disabilities or in need of mental/emotional recovery.

What is she like? Is she single? Does she work? Is shy or cheeky? or?? I love the time period. Oh am enjoying your book so far....it's taking me longer bc I had a migraine for a few days.
She's a single mother who seeks a new life in a new town but feels the sting of people judging her, even though they don't know circumstances that brought her there. She's a strong woman, yet is shy. Due to things out of her control, she's the reluctant new owner of a failing sheep ranch. Her story will be one of overcoming hardship, of challenging those who assume and judge. It will also bring to light the need to accept those with mental/physical disabilities.
So glad to hear you are enjoying the book. It's a fictionalization of my personal story. And yes, my own parents pushed me to be nice to the man who would go on to stalk me for over a decade and threaten to kill my children just months after my first husband died...truth is stranger than fiction sometimes! ;)

I think the name is going to be "When the pain has passed" in The Daughters of Darby Series. The other books might be "When freedom comes" and "When chains are broken."
