LOTS OF LOADS SHOWING UP AND A TO DO LIST

in #life6 years ago

We've had a lot show up on our land lately!

Right now is the time that we are investing in our land and lifestyle with the hopes that we will be able to reap a beneficial ROI over the years to come. Many projects are on the to do list, and we are getting prepared for some of them. Below will be a few photos of some shipments that have arrived, and also a haphazard to do list. Part of it is to share with all of you a "sneak peek" of things to come, and part of it is so I am able to look back at this post over time to remember what all I am supposed to be up to.

I well remember @papa-pepper the day I moved onto an empty piece of hillside with no services and just a Two room mobile home and a list so long of things to do... the art of keeping your sanity is to keep a short list of most pressing needs for the next couple of months at a time and accept a type of minimalist lifestyle in the meantime - from what I see you are making good headway and to be a free man in the countryside is your biggest gift and so worth the struggle.
If I had as many friends as you though I would be arranging work parties - people love to learn homesteading and many just need feeding at the end of the day - others even pay you to come and help ( working holidays are very popular for townsfolk to get out of the city , just advertise it right and you can get people paying you to help you homestead! )

Wow, thanks for the encouragement and ideas! I honestly do appreciate it!

Life is such an amazing adventure 🤗

As a suggestion,
Write down the list of what you have to do,
Prioritize it to what you think is the most important things first.
Give the list to Mama Pepper so she can tell you what to do first, then next etc.
Try and finish one job before you start another.
There is nothing as permanent as a temporary fix.
It will help you have a long happy life together.

There is nothing as permanent as a temporary fix.

Wow! Very well said. I've certainly seen that before! Thanks for the advice!

Ask Grandpa Pepper, he will tell you the same.
it is one of the secrets to a long happy married life
"Happy Wife = Happy Life"

That is quite the list!!

Ones that really speak to me are:

  • Outdoor shower- I had the fortunate chance to use one for a week when I was in Florida- so cool when the little Geckos were on the wood-slat sides and running around!
  • Outdoor kitchen- OH YES! on my wish list one day when we move to our property. But, being married to a Sicilian, it will have to have a pizza oven too
  • Solar dehydrator- you can't always rely on electricity
  • Publish books- yup I pulled all mine offline years ago with the hopes, and plans, to re-edit then release again... sigh

Just a few measly things. Haha. One at a time, you guys can do it. :-)

Thanks for the encouragement! At this point, we have no other realistic option!

Thanks a lot, this is very informative. There are humans in this platform pretending to provide information and click on-baiting customers. But this put up honestly packs a punch with all this information. well played sir.

Bro, yes! Where is your new place? If you're in North Texas or south Oklahoma, I'm down to add some labor.

NWA - North West Arkansas

Nice! Too far for me to be useful, but it looks great there! Love your list too. What's your timeline? You're starting from scratch, and it's gonna be awesome to watch it all come together!

Timeline? LOL - I just work as hard as I can six days a week and await the results and completion. It's easier for me that way.

Do work, boy! Get er done!

you cannot give anyone upvote why you decided that kind of situation.

Yeah ✌, i know you are always @papa-pepper

That's a long list...so we are going to see more of these tasks being done in your coming posts.
Hope you accomplish all of them.

In that first photo is that a trailer load of those insulated foam foundation forms that you fill with concrete? If so what are you going to be using them for?

That is actually the way that I'm going to build the root cellar/storm shelter. There are pros and cons, but in the end it is the decision we made.

Got most of them set up today!

We used these to build our whole basement! They work great, but it's absolutely essential that you check every single tie before you begin pouring. If you miss even one, it's a guaranteed blowout.

If you do miss one, using re-rod with a block of wood at each end successfully bridges the potential break.
