Hello friends, after my little presentation on va' a, I would like to talk about another water sport that I tried to know the sea kayak or surfskiing. It is a particularly streamlined boat with a paddler who uses pedals to drive a drift. The pedals are connected directly to the runaway with cables. This sport comes from Australia and South Africa where it was originally used for rescue at sea. This is an unsinkable sit-on-top kayak designed for deep-sea skiing.

As it goes' a, the manufacture goes from fiberglass to carbon which generates tariffs ranging from 2000€ to 4000€ depending on the model. The paddle should be light, so it should be made of carbon also to avoid a quick shoulder pain.
This boat is particularly effective on the high seas because it allows you to surf the slightest wave. Its weight (18kg for the heavier ones) puts it at a disadvantage on "flats" ("flat") bodies of water but the drift makes it very easy to use in the event of wind (unlike going' a where it can happen that you can row for an hour or two on one side to fight against the wind which directs your boat in the wrong direction...). The Kayak is convenient for people like me who have back problems because the effort is evenly distributed on the sides.
Kayak beginnings can be very boring because the balance is particularly precarious! Imagine sitting on a log of wood carved in "V" shape and imagine the unbalance caused by the slightest movement on it... Hell!!
Here are my beginnings on the Kayak, it took me about 2 hours of hard work to stay a few minutes without capsizing...

Thanks to the sound advice of my friend Loïc, a graduate trainer, I was able to understand the logic of this sport and get started alone a few days later... First in the lagoon...

Then offshore... in the waves!!

This sport is really nice when you have good abs and you persist in the effort. Unfortunately for me, my big size (1m92 has served me and after several months of practice, I switched to another sport...)
Here are two videos of "quiet" outings in the lagoon:

And another one from an open sea trip...

I hope this post interested you and, why not, made you want to practice surfskiing??????
