Your Brain is Broken -- Find Out Why

Are friend Albert was quite a bright fellow, what does he mean with this cryptic phrase.
I want to give you a bit of backstory.
This quote is in the first chapter of Unlimited Power, the first book written by Tony Robbins.
Tony is describing perception.
As mammals, humans receive and represent information about their environment through specialized receptors and sense organs. There are five senses: gustation or taste, olfaction or smell, vision or sight, audition or hearing, and kinesthesis or feeling. ...
These specialized receptors transmit external stimuli to the brain. Through the process of generalization, distortion and deletion, the brain then takes these electrical signals and filters them into an internal representation.
Let's break it down
We will start with our senses.

Our senses pick up stimuli from the environment around us. These enter our nervous system in the form of electrical stimuli.
Now that we have gathered the data, it is time to process it.
Information theory states the brain can process billions of bits of data per second (11 billion to be exact), while the conscious mind can handle a meager 50!
What happens to the remaining, 10,999,999,950 pieces of information?
That's where selective deletion comes into play.
There is a specialized part of the brain called the reticular activating system, or RAC for short.
The RAC functions to process our sensory information and sort out the most important pieces.
Imagine being able to perceive a billion things at once...
It's maddening!
You wouldn't be able to accomplish anything. Your mind would be in a constant state of overstimulation.
The RAC functions in a simple way.
It finds information that is relevant to either
A: our survival
B: our current task
and it eliminates pretty much everything else.
It is a filter to our reality and quite a good one at that.
Why is this important?
When we realize that we have a filter that is removing the MAJORITY of information from our conscience perception, we might want to dig a bit deeper and figure out just what is and is not, making the cut.
