Snow Way!!

I looked out the window at the swirling snow. It was pelting down thick and fast. I sighed, normally I love snow but not when I am stuck in work staring at it through a window.

Someone flounced up to my desk. I tore my gaze from the blizzard outside to face my visitor.

It was El Jefe.

Look at that snow Boomdawg! Look at it!

I have been. It's pretty heavy.

El Jefe stepped right up to the window till his breath was fogging the glass. Then he turned and smiled gleefully.

Can you believe the amount of requests I have had from people who want to go home early?

Early? What a bunch of workshy fops.

I exclaimed with no little sarcasm.

I had been about to ask If I could leave early. Snow in Scotland tends to disrupt all forms of public transport and I had no intention of spending the night trapped in work. In fact I could think of nothing worse.

El Jefe pulled a chair up. He was grinning from ear to ear.

I mean come on, it's only a bit of snow eh!

Well, it is quite heavy.

The office suddenly became quite dark as the snowfall outside worsened.

El Jefe slowly spun a full 360 degrees on the chair. As he rotated back to face me, I practically had to dodge out of the way of his power-mad semi-erect penis.

I always say Boomdawg that if I can get into work and home again then so can anyone. So I told them no!

I nodded thoughtfully.

Don't you stay two streets away from here?

Well, yes.

Most of us stay several miles away.

And that Boomdawg, is why God invented public transport!

He declared triumphantly.

He spun around in his chair again. Even slower this time. With dramatic flair he inched back round and stopped to look me straight in the eye.

You live way out on the outskirts don't you?

Yup.

You weren't thinking of asking to go home early were you?

As he said this the lights flickered. He cackled and looked around wildly.

No, leaving early is for the weak.

I intoned in a mock robotic voice.

He peered at me suspiciously. Unsure if I was doubting his authority. Then he leaned forward and hissed...

I don't care how bad it gets. No-one gets to leave early. NO-ONE.

His eyes had a mad look to them, like those of a badger gnawing at a fig.

At that moment, one of the Directors entered.

Everyone, attention please. The snow is forecast to get worse over the next couple of hours. If you need to leave early then please do so.

El Jefe looked stricken. I whooped and patted him on the shoulder quite condescendingly.

You can hold the fort boss man. See ya!

I ran before the snow changed its mind.

Sort:

Even we had some snow in dublin today. I have been told it rarely snows even though it gets extremely windy and cold.

It's all too disappear by tomorrow apparently!

Haha! Been away for a bit but nice to see boomdaddy still going strong, putting power-obsessed bosses in their place.

Enjoy the snow man, been coming down like crazy over here too! Unfortunately no snow day for me...still sitting at the office :(

Aw no way, that sucks! It often happens here right enough. They keep you in just long enough for all forums of transport to cease. Hope you escape soon!

Awesome!! I like your great sense of humor even at a serious issue of extreme snow and cold...I remember few yeasr ago when I was an Executive MBA student at Warwick business school-University of Warwick , suddenly snow fell like tornado and we were stuck and have to cancel a serious exam. Damn (huray I was glad because I was not prepared for the tough exam however how can a gent go home? ) , I have to walk miles back home because transport and cars were stuck in snow!!!! Damn I screamed!!! a lovely gent need help!!!!! Thanks for sharing-upped, always. I wish you a blessed day and stay warm.... a good brandy or old Scottish whisky plus a lady will help

Cheers mate. A lovely whisky has certainly done the trick :O)

Hahahahahah I know that it will do the trick...cheers

Haha! Great post. I am a might bit determined and stubborn when it comes to staying put in snow. I have never let it slow me down or stop me from doing what I wanted to do. I can trace it all the way back to my late teens.

I was staying with my Aunt and Uncle briefly. It was during one of the heaviest snows we had experienced in quite some time here in the good old south of the USA.

I had plans and was just not about being stuck. lol! We woke to 12 inches of snow, which is a lot for us. Our driveway was a good 100 ft. My uncle was elderly and I had no expectations of him shoveling the driveway. I was perfectly content taking that responsibility on. But, he didn't want the neighbors to see a teenage girl out shoveling his driveway. He was very proud. So he came out along beside me and snarled and cursed a little under his breath the entire time. He said I was the most stubborn person he had ever known. lol! I am ok with that. I had to work hard to get what I wanted even that young, so really that was a compliment.

Once I had shoveled my way out of the driveway, I put the shovel in the trunk of my car and off I went. I drove on slick roads, slid a few times, got stuck in some patches of snow, but dug my way out each time. And, I survived even in a little ole southern hick town.

Now ice, that is a whole different beast. I might just stay put on that one. ;)

Lol, well that is quite the determination!

Our snow tends to be the very wet icy kind so it makes it all a it perilous. There was a point tonight I slid sideways for ten feet and thought oh bugger but fortunately never hit anything and got the control back!

I actually love snow. one of the reasons I like getting out of work is to just go and play in it hehe

I was determined. lol! Yes, I hear you on the ice. I am with you on that. I have had a very similar experience and that feeling of having no control is scary. There is literally nothing you can do, but try your best to manage the steering somehow, but that is even not guaranteed. Thank goodness you were able to to avoid an incident. I love to play in the snow too. Thanks for the memory. x

sorry for the snow bother you but i really love the snow ..☺😊 maybe i likenit alot because here in our place no any snow that's y it's my dream to play in snow, @meesterboom

It's great to play in it!! Just not to watch it whilst in work :0D

yap you right i wish i could play but never get the opportunity 😧

One day mate, one day you will play in the joyous white stuff!

This is epic. Didn't he just make you wish you could stick something in the chair as he spun, and make him come to an abrupt halt? Except that he may have fell off and landed on your lap. Darn snowstorms. Hope ya had some beer to warm up with :-)

Yeek, a lapdance from El Jefei could do without!! Lol

Lol, can't say I blame you

haha good timing Mr Director! I wonder if he stuck around until the end just to prove a point! We still haven't had any yet, but we are forecast a bit tomorrow night I think, yey! :D

It must be starting up here and moving down. There's lots!! I bet he was out the for add soon as we all left!

Thanks goodness that one of the directors came on time to stop "the El Jefe proposed plan" I am sure most of the workers might be causing him inside lolx. Hope you got home safely.
I have not seen snow physically before. Here we have dry winter which is very harsh something.

@seyiodus.

Here it is a wet winter. It's horrible!!

So sorry to hear that. Actually dry winter is more horrible when it's windy.

We should ban winter!

lolx. We cannot change nature. Unless we want to invite global warming which will be hell of a living.

Love driving in the snow-- that's one of the main reasons I was always the first to want to leave work at the slightest hint of snow, not so much so that I could go home, but so that I could go driving!

I just drove in it there, the car was going everywhere!!

Sounds great-- we are getting the brutal cold with none of the snow this year so far, so no ice-capades for me yet.

I am sure it will be coming!! I am sure amazed, is has lasted for more than the normal day

Snow is always so disappointing for me. While most kids are out of school, I'm homeschooled and therefore stuck at home with school. What a cruel trick of nature ;-)

Mess with your teacher. Tell her you want to study:
Social studies with:

  • Minecraft or Halo MMO's (memory, fine motor skills, abilities for working within rules, leadership & teamwork)
  • Eye in the Sky (ethics of modern warfare), Proud Mary (ethics, social justice, personal redemption) The Star Wars series (family dynamics, justice/injustice, How the control of media influences societies), , Planet of the Apes (the relationship Between Church and State, predjudice, animal rights)

Chemistry of

  • snow icecream
  • how fast hot cocoa melts marshmallows

Physics:

  • what forces are exerted on a snowball, snowball velocity at the distance of you stand from various mail carriers
  • hockey includes velocity of pucks and skating)

Study engineering/architecture/art :

  • build a snow fort

Biology

  • go look for animal tracks - so you can't find any. Maybe it's an ecological disaster where you live!

Sorry. That's all I got.

Is that all? FFS ;O)

For more you'll have to ask someone who was a youngest child. They get away with everything.

Hmmm... That didn't sound bitter did it? 😁

Haha, bitterness... Nah ;0)

Those are all perfectly valid (we're homeschoolers too ;D).

Although I'd suggest using siblings as targets or otherwise building some as opposed to using mail carriers. We still want to get mail after all.

goatsig

Kids always expect it and know where you'll hide afterward so no use running (plus you actually have to live with them afterwards (retaliation?). Mail carriers are much less savvy and the ambush is so satisfying. Running away before they catch you gives a kid lots of good exercise.

Oh that is terribly cruel! Still at least you are but a short jump away from getting out there!
