Who the hell writes posts on their phone?

in #life6 years ago

I flew in to Adelaide for a job interview today. It’s an awesome sounding job, fantastic pay, a boss who seems like a legitimately nice person, and with a very respectable company.

To say that I want this job would be an understatement. So I’m really struggling to not get my hopes up. What makes it even harder is that I already know that I’m only up against one other person.

The consumption of alcoholic beverages may have contributed to the crafting of this post.

I’ve been job hunting for a few weeks now. And have had a number of interviews already. I’ve discovered that I quite literally suck at interviews. I know all the tricks, the strategies and the best ways to prepare. But when I get in there and have to do the talking I just blunder my way through and hope for the best.

So it’s quite possible that I’ll end up working in a Red Rooster for minimum wage. I’m sure my lack of real interview skills will go unnoticed there.

And, while doing all this interviewing and job hunting, my Steemit activity has dropped away to almost nothing. So while I’m sitting here in a quiet bar in little old Adelaide before my flight back to Melbourne in the morning I figured I might as well write a post on my phone.

Writing posts on phones can be frustrating. Especially when you want to insert images or do any interesting formatting. Which is why this post is so poorly formatted and without much in the way of images. There’s also probably a tonne of typos that I haven’t noticed.

Add to the above the fact that I’ve had a few drinks to drown my thoughts of disasterous things said during interviews and what we have here is one epic and long winded shit post.

Maybe the lesson here is to avoid writing long and rambling posts on your phone, especially after a number of adult beverages. Maybe just post via apps such as Steepshot. But Steepshot sucks so maybe don’t do that.

JOB GURRANTED !!!

I’ll give you 1 Steem to make that happen. :D

already gave you a 100 STEEM idea !!

I hope you will get the job! Good luck! Looking for a job is really hard work!

Looking for a job is really easy.
Looking for a well-payed, cool job, that is hard :D

Thanks mate, finding the right job is tough indeed. I hope the interview today is the last one I need to do. :)

Its as if you talking about me. I write posts with my phone all the time.

Best of luck on getting rhe job .

Thank you. I’m impressed you write on your phone a lot. I’m not a fan.

Good luck with the job mate. And i have done all my steemit on my phone from the first post i made.

Thanks! That’s insane that you only write via phone. Get a tablet or laptop! It’s so much easier writing on my Mac Book.

Hey, @mazzle. Good to see you.

I keep thinking a prolonged absence from posting means you've got the job. Sorry to hear it hasn't happened yet, but this sounds pretty promising. Hopefully your experience and the employer's good will can tip things in your favor. We are also our own worst critic when it comes to such things.

I sincerely wish you the best here.

On to the topic of writing from your phone.

I have yet to run across a situation where I would attempt it. It means loading my posting password onto my iPhone, which I've not been willing to do, and then it means going through all of what you did, or didn't do. Addled by alcohol or not, it's a tricky proposition, and at some point, when phones are nearly the equivalent of a laptop, I'm going to need one that can connect to dual monitors so I can see everything I want to see as big as I want to see it. :)

I often comment and read posts on my phone. I’ve actually been logged in to Steemit on my phone for as long as I have had an account.

I really hope yesterday was my last interview as well. This job search is exhausting and I’m utterly tapped out financially.

Thanks for your well wishes. I am keeping tabs on your posts. I’m just terrible at commenting right now.

No worries. You do what you gotta do. Once you're working again that will get things back on track financially and other things will fall into place and so forth. Yes, I'm cheerleading. :)

Ya, hopefully you get a call back!
I've never really prepared too much for an interview. Any interview that is too formal is just fake. As an interviewer I would rather the interviewee to feel comfortable and relaxed so that they can "be themselves" rather than some fake drone who studied all the write answers and is just spitting out what they think you want to hear. But thats just me. Hopefully you didnt say anything to far into left field ahaha. GOODLUCK Mate!

I’m definitely hoping for a call back! My preparation is essentially knowing everything I can about the job and company and then predicting what they will want to know about me. I actually spent 3 days preparing for my last interview with this company so was incredibly frustrated when I didn’t get the job. I hope this time is different.

Great to catch up, mate. You'll get this one. I feel it in my cockles.

I really hope so. It was great seeing you last night. I’m glad we eventually crossed paths.

Practice makes perfect (perfect meaning getting the job) and downtime is best spent with some scotch and STEEMit! I think you are on the right track.
Can't wait to hear the results.

Answer: you.

Good luck though. I'm sure Radelaide would love to have you back.
