We all tend to be so hard on ourselves. We hate when we slip and end up sliding into a denial-self-talk rant for days.

There are many ways we can avoid these situations in our lives. Many times physical situations are beyond our control. Things happen! However, we can take steps to be as compassionate as possible so that what was a slip will not turn into an inner war and rage.

Here are some steps to living a life of loving-kindness.

1. Be careful about how you express anger

We are all so hard on ourselves. We expect perfection and never fail. But this is so unrealistic. However, while you count on perfection, you get indignant with yourself if you aren't best.

To be at its best, it is of the utmost importance that you cultivate compassion for yourself. This can soften your heart and allow the strange sliding upward.

2. Do not blame anyone.

If we are angry, we will usually blame someone for our misfortunes or landslides. Guilt is something that is completely unnecessary. Instead of blaming, look at anger with fairness. Act instead of your highest intentions. They are usually compassionate. Be aware instead of blaming.

3. Try to cultivate appreciation

Try to cultivate gratitude with everything and everyone in your life. Our usual tendency is to look beyond all the good things others have done for us and instead focus on and reproduce every real and imaginary light. Finding time in your life to actively cultivate appreciation is an important part of the practice of loving-kindness.

Gratitude softens your heart and helps reduce your anger. In addition, thanksgiving seed the ground to allow loving-kindness to grow naturally in joy and peace.

4. Choose your friends wisely

Try not to choose to spend time with angry people. This can be very damaging to our own mood and can serve to reinforce our own habit of anger. If instead you can help such people through your loving kindness practice, you should help them. Otherwise, when it is possible and appropriate, it is often best not to associate with them.

When people usually indulge in anger, they destroy their opportunity to live in peace and harmony. You need these two things to cultivate the compassion of yourself and others.

5. Look at you honestly

Honest and conscientious introspection is essential to truly integrate a life of loving-kindness. You must be willing to look at yourself, your own motivations, especially when you experience anger and greed.

Be sure to ask yourself if you are acting selfishly. We all have a tendency to have a deep and unexamined belief that things should go the way we want and get angry when they do not. But most of the time, these feelings are selfish where we only take our own opinions and problems at heart.

By taking these steps, you will strive for life a life of loving-kindness. What a blessing that life is!
