COLLABORATORS HOMES. Chapter 1: Espina Family. Kitchen Remodeling (+ PHOTOS)
Hello steemians! My experience as a civil engineer has given me the opportunity to be part of incredible projects that help the Venezuelan community. In this segment of my blog I will tell you several stories about my participation in the corporate social responsibility program: collaborators homes of the Marmoca Group.
COLLABORATORS HOMES PROGRAM
This is possible thanks to the fact that the company assumed 50% of the project's budget as a donation and the other 50% will be paid in the form of a loan by the worker in 24 installments during 2 years.
In 2017, working as an Construction inspector in this company, I was invited to be part of the planning and executing team of this program; Without hesitation, I got to work!
THE FIRST FAMILY SELECTED
Certainly for this we could not choose any worker; They had to meet certain requirements. Among them: seniority in the company, evaluation of their performance within it, family burden, housing tenure and degree of need for improvement.
After evaluating all the candidates, the first family selected was the family of Gloriana Espina. She has worked as a coordinator on this company for 10 years fulfilling the duties of her position with great performance.
She always longed for the remodeling of his kitchen, but considering the growing inflation and the priorities of education and nutrition of a family of 6 members (2 adults and 4 girls) she had not been able to fulfill this desire.
PHASES OF THE REMODELING PROJECT
I went with an architect to Gloriana's apartment to assess the fundamental needs that had to be met.
During this visit we noticed that the bad distribution of the reduced space of her kitchen obstruct the fluidity during the preparation of their food.
During this stage I worked with the architect to devise and present the design proposal and the estimate cost of the project, taking into consideration the preferences of Gloriana and her family.
In the following images I show you the original design selected where you can see dark wood kitchen cabinets, a new pantry and a breakfast table. However, during the execution of the work some modifications were made at the request of the beneficiary.
I made the requisition and procure of all the materials to carry out the following activities:
- Demolition of ceramic and wall up of original doorway.
- Demolition of wall for the location of the new door.
- Redirection of electricity points and water pipes.
- Installation of new ceramic.
- Installation of kitchen cabinets and granite countertops.
- Installation of dishwasher, faucets and home appliances.
On the day of the final revelation, the Espina family expressed their gratitude to the entire business group with tears of joy. Gloriana told us: "Excellent experience, first for having the privilege of being in the group of beneficiaries and, secondly, for the interest of the entire team to contribute to strengthening our homes, not only in the structural part but in the reinforcement of the family union".
In addition, She highlight something very important saying: “I am happy to know that I am in a company that believes in this country, that believes in its people. I am pleased to have been privileged with this program and I hope that the company continues to be very prosperous so that the program can reach all my colleagues.”
In this way I hope to transmit a message of encouragement and hope so that we may continue fighting for our dreams in our country, since Venezuela is still full of great individuals and wealth everywhere. A hug, thanks for reading.

P.S. If you or anyone you know has been a victim of @grumpycat please know that he has been harming people throughout Sōsharumedia (ソーシャルメディア). Stealing the service that I (and other bots) have provided them and hiding behind a facade of stopping bid bot abuse which he clearly has no interest in.
Sneaky Ninja is a very responsible bot, working directly with steemcleaners, actively pursuing spam and abuse on our platform. If you would like to see what steps Sneaky Ninja has taken to fight bid bot abuse see this post and this post. Also know that I am working daily on other solutions.
If you would like to know my personal take on bid bot abuse and why I do not agree with the 3.5 day rule, see this post
