If Love Was Covered By the News Like Drugs Are

in #life8 years ago

A widespread behavioral infection has been spreading among the youth and adults alike. It goes by the name love — also known as eros — and has been linked to uncontrolled and often dangerous behaviour.

When someone comes under this behavioural spell is hard to predict their actions. Look for signs of excessive sweat, obsessive behaviour, stomach crumbs (also known as butterflies), tremors, lack of concentration and loss of weight. Experts warn that it can also trigger insomnia, severe headaches and cognitive deficits.

Perhaps the most worrying part of this “love” phenomenon is that it has become widely accepted. Hollywood seems to have embraced this trend, often featuring stories that incorporate love and betrayal, with tragic endings each time. One can imagine how this madness influences a young mind that seeks excitement in life.

"The brain’s physiology gets rewired", a health official stated. "There is no control over one’s thoughts and actions and it is extremely hard to get treatment". Many other researchers have identified love to be directly linked to domestic abuse, sexual assault and violent crimes.

Only the past year 670 people committed suicide because they had been heartbroken while many others are under investigation for murder. The world remains unable to handle this massive epidemic.

Public officials suggest that love-related injuries cause more than 1.000.000 deaths each year, not accounting for the longterm detrimental effects it can have to one’s psychological state. Excessive or “mad love” is believed to be the leading cause of injury between the ages of 15 to 25.

The cause of the problem seems to be directly linked with our school system. Children are taught the story of Romeo & Juliet, a tragic story where two teens aged 14 and 17 fall in love for three days and cause six deaths, including their own. This piece of literature is celebrated in our culture and one can imagine how it can affect those who experience love at such a tender age.

Teachers from various districts across the country have also noticed that an increasing number of teenage girls have stopped paying attention to class and are instead drawing hearts with the name of their crash. This results to a decreased academic performance that can seriously limit their chances for entering college. Some reports have even found love-stricken college students quitting their studies and engaging in unprotected coetus, which results in a spread of deadly STD’s.

The horror of this behavioral infection becomes even greater when one expresses love for their country or religion. The well documented effects of decreased logic and simple reasoning seem to become exponentially amplified when love is applied en masse. A Cambridge psychologist stated that most armed conflicts around the world are caused by people expressing love to either a person or an ideology.

No other mentally altering substance comes close to the staggering fatalities of the “love” phenomenon. Cocaine, a drug closely resembling the effect of love, has 5 times less death related causes. Heroin, considered one of the most dangerous drugs in the market, is linked to only a fraction of deaths in comparison to love.

We owe to take responsibility and guide future generations away from the ill effects of this behavioural madness. A recent survey has showed that nearly all marriages are a result of this illness, with more than 60% resulting in divorce. More than half of people previously fallen in love now hate their ex lovers, inflicting them with long term trauma that compromises future relationships.

Perhaps the most detrimental effect of love inflicts children who see their homes broken, traumatised for life, unable to withhold stable relationships themselves. What will it take for us as a society to stand against this widening epidemic?

Love impacts the human physiology much like every other drug — legal or illegal. Public officials and lawmakers with the approval of the public shape public opinion, distort perception and create unreasonable biases for concepts that are not any more harmful than everything else around us.

News and media outlets are shaped by us. The information we are fed is especially designed to reinforce our own biases and fears. We are drawn to this form of sensational communication because we refuse to take responsibility for our actions. It doesn't make mich of a difference whether we talk about drugs, terrorism or even love. The only thing that changes is the narrative we choose to recite to ourselves.

Love is as strong if not stronger than a lot of actual drugs.
The amount of endorphins released by the brain when a person is in so called "love" is tremendous. Some studies have seen similarities with people who are in love and people who are using coke.
Withdraw.... lets not go there... people become psychotic and many times even kill those who they say they love when they find out the love of their lives doesn't love them as much.
Love is scary... and beutiful lol

LOve, there's a gazillion definitions for it.

The woman in the first pic looks like she's got a Latin case of: Bunnier Boilus! BEWARE!!!

@mindhunter

I actually had to google the term. Thank you for enriching my vocabulary

Who knew love was so dangerous?!?
Oh.... wait.... I did. Prime example: My ex-husband. My gut said RUN, my brain said 'But I love him!' It's not sexy but now I always go with my gut. :)

@merel99

Your gut can betray you much more than your brain. it is not wise to base future situations on past experiences

I can only go by my personal experiences but my gut-checks have never steered me wrong. In the case of my first marriage, my brain was conditioned to understand what marriage was based on my observations of my parents. Mom seemed submissive and dad was like... well...Ralph Kramden of the Honeymooners. LOL My gut said RUN. My brain said that's how it's supposed to be. It was a miserable 7-year lesson.
I agree to some extent that future situations merit independent thinking, but we are products of our past so our options are to stick with the status quo or break out of the box. Sometimes we just have to pick our battles. :)

its your life. you know best i guess :)

I believe the cliche reads,"Love is a two way street". However, if the road is poorly maintained, it's riders get taxed at every turn. I think it's hard to really experience true love these days. From my perspective, it seems that necessity & convenience are confused for love. I also think a lot of the people who claim to have experienced love for another person, haven't actually experienced it at all. This article definitely sheds light on love in a perspective that I've never thought to view. Completely original and thought provoking.

@silverbackjonz

What makes you so sure that love even exists in the first place? :)

@kyriacos

yeap. didn't imply you did say something bad. love is not even a feeling. its a reaction resembling a drug trip.

I was on such trip once , yes only once in my life and celebrate that love with my now 22 years young beautiful daughter. The man is gone :)

proofreading, replace crumbs with crumps
crumbs are little pieces of bread for example

proofreading: replace coetus with coitus

proofreading: replace mich with much
