😡😡My Life Sucks! I Never Get What I Want! 😡😡

We tend to do the same things every day, in the exact same way.

We don't think of doing things differently often when they can make such a big difference. Changing your environment can help boost your productivity can get more done in a day. So you can do more of the things that you love doing.

Don't Multitask

Did you know that multitasking hurts productivity?
That all the statements about it helping productivity are not true. That by multitasking you are wasting time. I often remember bragging about how I could multitask at job interviews. And I now realize how silly it is. When you are multitasking, you are rapidly switching tasks with your brain.
This is overload on your brain and makes it very difficult to concentrate on things. Haven't you noticed when you multitask you don't get things done well?

Changing your environment will help sometimes help your focus. This will allow you to concentrate better, these days we all have trouble focusing on one thing at a time. But what if going to a new environment where you don't have access to some of those distractions would help your productivity? Sometimes that's all it takes.

Batch Activities

I have an area where I do art, and an area where I do computer work, I have an area where I do cooking and an area where I get dressed. By having specific areas where I can do things. It allows me to batch things easier. This is why organization is essential. When everything is together it's easier to find; it allows you to get more done in one go. Sometimes getting a new piece of furniture can dramatically change a room.. I found this with the new work desk that I got recently. Sometimes we can't change our environment; we can't get a new office or new room or new apartment. But we can make small changes like furniture, or rearrangement, that allows us to be more productive.

Work Quickly

We are too obsessed with having things perfect. When they aren't perfect, we go back and edit them. This is true with many of our blog posts. But sometimes working better, is all about working faster. You can't work better in a crappy environment. Having your workplace set up correctly is essential to promote productivity and to work more quickly. Since I've had my new desk I work a lot faster now; I don't have to continually rearrange things to switch tasks. Worrying about your environment, in addition to how much is getting done can make a huge difference. Sometimes if things are set up a certain way, they can inhibit your speed of work. When we change our environment, we force ourselves to look at things differently. This is why going back and editing things, allows us to save so much time. I realized by typing my post, I was over analyzing every mistake that I was making. When I can go back and edit after I make my rough draft, this allows me to work a lot faster. Instead of writing and correcting my work, I am just writing, or I am just correcting my work. I can correct multiple rough drafts quickly. And I'm able to write numerous first drafts quickly.

This is one example of how working quickly can help your productivity. That sometimes when we are in the same environment regularly, we fail to see things for what they are.
We are often brainwashed into thinking things work a certain way. But the reality is there are better options. We are afraid of wasting time on potentially a bad option or new way of looking at something. Which often hurts us.

Most tasks can be counter-intuitive when you multitask them, but sometimes you can easily do it with others. Having two screens does help me multitask and do more but I takes breaks and not always overdo things.

Working quickly can only help if you don't do it too quickly or mistakes are made and can be worse in the long run. It's all about finding that balance and what does and doesn't work and modifying as you go.

:) :)

Just stay in the war because journey is as important as the end result. There are the days when nothing goes per plan. A fairly easy thing seems a tall mountain to climb. Those who stick to the path are the winners.

  • Take a break from regular chaos, spend some quality time with your loved ones.
  • Spend the time alone, do what you love to do.
  • Engage yourself in some fruitful hobby, which makes you grown up as a person.
  • Do not, please do not discuss your problems with everybody, yes washing dirty laundry outside is not a fair idea.
  • As everything comes with a time span, bad days also will pass.

Exactly! Never giving up really helps.
I LOVE The tips you provided below those are extremely important to remember. I love the hobby one :)

Batching ....yes! I've never believed in the term "multi-tasking" anyway. My belief is only a tiny percentage of humanity can truly multitask in the way the term is typically used, anyway. We all batch.

Right? Only a very small number.Batching is magic

Agreed!

(Thanks for the upvote! I'd reciprocate if I could.)

I don't multitask often... mainly because I don't have that much to do. I do have areas for certain tasks, bathroom for showering and cleaning the old pipes, kitchen for cooking, living room for computer,tv and it's also my dining room. oh, and great for naps too. I must admit I don't dust often, that when when I move something, I know where to put it back!
As to changing my environment, I just call that a vacation!

@skiponline Exactly! I always need vacations too hehe.

You're right! Multitasking is a huge waste of time. We can't actually focus on multiple things at a time, we are constantly moving our focus between things which makes us much less productive. Need to continue to work on this myself!

Great post as always, Kaylin!

a good idea and a good solution

Thank you :)

Certainly sometimes we believe that doing things as they do others will come out the same, when really everyone has their way of doing things, we must be more personal in that aspect, and probably that is when we see the change

Wao, love that
