Gorgeous Utah Hike, ALONE, 6 Miles

in #life7 years ago

Lately, I've been a mess! My emotions have been all over the place. I'm super excited one second. The next second I feel crushed and burned out.
Last night I stopped working WAYYYY early And forced myself to go to bed.

Sometimes you need to stop what your doing and take care of yourself!

Your body and mind know what it needs, even if you don't realize it.
I haven't been able to maintain focus, And my enthusiasm has been dead.
It might be because I've been losing a lot of weight recently, I may not be getting enough food. I Also have been stressed out keeping up with my self-employed workload.

I have mixed feelings about mental illness. I've seen a lot of family members lose their minds. So I try to pay special attention to myself when I start to crumble. I don't want to "fall" into the same fate as that.

I woke up 3 hours after going to bed

Which is not that weird, I've been going to bed around 5-8:00 A.m Pulling all-nighters to get work done! I went to bed at 12:00 A.m And woke up at 3:00 A.m.

I forced myself to go for a hike!

It's kind of funny, Hiking is one of my favorite activities, Yet I had no desire to go. I sort of just forced myself. Of course, once I got up in the mountains, and I was breathing in that air, and hearing the birds chirp. I never wanted to leave.

NEW TRAIL!

I found a new trail which I'm excited about! It's gorgeous! Sadly though, Its quite far from the bus stop, So I have to walk along ways to get to it!
But it was worth it today! Sadly I'm a bit out of shape though. By the time I walked 3-4 blocks through the winding neighborhoods that were uphill, I got to the trail. I wasn't able to get through the whole trail Because I was tired! But hey more for another day.

Sadly photos don't do it justice.

There was a beautiful stream; It had lots of trees.
And you could easily see all the mountain ranges. Its gorgeous! The ground was still soft and wet from the rainy days. I can't wait to see that trail again later!!

How far do you need to travel to get to a good hiking spot? Thanks to a biking and car accident, two of my past three summers were ruined and then last year I moved to Philadelphia and there isn't much nearby for backcountry hikers like myself. I've been feeling the same need for a refreshing exodus to nature.

Well I sit on a bus for an hour, To get to the mountain, Then I usually have to walk 1.5 miles to the nearest hiking trail. So Its kind of a huge sacrifice but it works out. I'm sorry about that :( That sucks! I hope you can hike soon! Maybe you can come to utah to hike sometime.

The funny thing about that is I was supposed to have done Zion & Bryce Canyon both last fall and pretty much right now but my hiking buddy bailed to vacation with his girlfriend last year, and to move her to Manhattan this year, so I keep putting it off. I've never been out west before and I have always wanted to hike a desert location.

Aww man!! I hate when that happens. Have you considered going alone?

I have but I didn't want my first "epic" trip to be alone. I am going to get out soon(ish) for something only a few hours away, but in this part of the country, there isn't much I haven't already seen and while it will still be very refreshing to get to the woods, I really want a new landscape.

You should be more confident. The photos were good. Just take 3-5 more. I definitey got the feeling of a peaceful and restoring place.

Double check with your doc, but anytime I struggle with staying up or excess energy getting excercise is best. If I don't want to excercise I have a couple drops of scarlett sage under the tounge and that relaxes me enough to get some shut-eye.

Thank you for your tips!
I think I really just need to spend more time relaxing. I've been working so many hours and the stress has been weighing me down.

When i read this it's like you're writing about me ... Truly ,
The reasons for feeling like this isn't the exact same for us though .. since we're different people.. But i can really feel you.
Ps. I would do anything to join you on your trails,
But i do force myself out on my own.
Keep it up girl! :)

Aww thank you! It's nice to know that people understand!
Maybe we should set up a Steemit hike!

Hiking is the best, I've never regretted the time I've spent out in Nature. That tells me it's time well spent!

Agreed! It definelty is.

Wish I had nature like that here... . And sleeping 3 hours is crazy. I can easily do 12h and still feel tired as hell. I hope you take care of yourself. No work is worth damaging your health.

So true! Sometimes I overwork myself without realizing it, So NOw I'm cutting it back a bit.

Sometimes you need to crash, before you crash. Great pics. Hiking in a nice serene environment is just what the mind and body needs.

Exactly! Heheh Thank you .
