Our New BEACH LOT! Our Life Experience Living in El Salvador. (Part 10)

After we have lost our beach house and property, which you can see on the first photo, we were going to walk away empty handed but thankfully our friend who, long story short, helped us get this beach lot, all paid for, which is amazing and we couldn't be more grateful. So this is how our lot look like when we received it, which took us 9 months of running around and singing all the paperwork but it's ours now and we love it.



This is our new beach lot. You can see the ocean from it if you look closely.
In front of our lot there is another lot and then the beach.


We wanted to start building on our lot slowly, step by step and the first thing we thought we should build is a fence since this lot is not as private as the other one we had right at the beach and ocean view.
But in order to get started, we needed a well which is really easy to install because the sweet water is just right underneath, so you don't have to dig very deep and that was the only source to get water.


Once we got the well and water we could start building. Alfredo, who is our amazing friend/family and the one who helped us get this lot was in charge of this project since he lived very close to the beach and he could get all the workers he needed.

Alfredo in the blue shirt and my husband. These guys worked so hard since there was no real shade for them to hide and the six hours/day right on this super hot sun even though they started working like at 5:30 am before the sun comes out and its not that hot.




Working with all this wire is very tricky on the beach since the salt from the ocean will rust it pretty fast and that is why you have to buy all different kinds of wire and brick and other kinds of building supplies than normal kind of construction.


That is the only thing I didn't really like while living on the beach is that everything that is metal will rust so you really have to keep it protected by covering or hiding it really good. I remember our first house on this beach where I had to clean the salt fright from my glass windows at least once every two weeks.




The fence is getting higher and higher.




The fence is looking pretty nice and you can see our entrance.







I don't know if you can see clearly in this picture but the corner of this fence is round which was a bit tricky to build, but the final results are great.
These two trees in front of the fence are the almond trees.


This is how we left the fence when we had to come back to Canada, AGAIN and this is where we are right now, but while working hard to get our feet back up again, we thought we should be planting coconut trees since they take about 5 years to grow and give fruit and you really need the shade when you live at the beach.
The funny thing is first when we moved to El Salvador, we did not want to plant many trees or have any shade on our beach home, just the bright sun, but we learned really quick why people in El Salvador plant so many trees and love the shade. It's needed.


My husband's cousin, Juan, who is taking care of our home is also looking after the beach lot where he goes once a month and was in charge of planting the coconut trees. We planted them in winter time, since it's a bit cooler and it rains at night time.




These are the pictures our cousin took for us of our first coconuts.




I believe we have like 20 coconut trees growing on our beach property right now and the beautiful thing is that we also have big coconut trees from the lot next to us that is also for sale which maybe one day we will be able to buy, but who knows what life has in store.




The lot is looking nice and clean.

This is Juan. He is the best. I don't know what we would do without him.
And look how big the trees are getting.




Yellow coconut trees. They were alternated when planted so that it will be one green and one yellow coconut tree.





These are the last pictures of our beach from last month that we received from Juan.

Our lime tree. Juan says these limes are the best and that they have so much juice in them. These will be perfect for my margaritas. HeHe.
