Customs Sucks!

in #life8 years ago (edited)

Today, I mailed a gift to some Canadian friends. However, in order to ship something across an imaginary line, it cost me nearly $10 and I had to fill out a stupid government form. Apparently any package, even some hand-made necklaces and earrings, need a Customs form.

Who is it from? Who is it for? What's in it? What is it worth? NONE OF YOUR BUSINESS! It isn't fragile, toxic, explosive, or otherwise problematic - although if I were a bad guy up to no good, I would - get this - lie about everything anyway. It's all security theater and control freak shenanigans.

Only a government monopoly could result in a system this backwards. We're in the age of the internet. Government boundaries are obsolete, and people just don't know it yet. Cryptocurrency will eventually overtake government funny money. People will find ways around the postal monopolies for physical goods, too.

Yeah, mailing stuff out of the US is a pain. I've mailed a few things to a buddy in Mexico over the years, and filling out that form is annoying as hell. I tend to just write it is a gift worth like $10 so no one tries to yank it, as I've known a few people who have had big issues with customs losing packages without any idea where they went.

Getting it out of #Australia is probably slightly worse, damn #CommonWealthCountries cheers on the info!

I hate having to mail out of the country myself. Such a pain...

Omg, I totally understand! Such a pain in the butthole! Yesterday I had fill out paperwork and they ask you a gazillion questions and ask you the same question over and over and I had to change my last name on my social security and they also ask the same questions lol. Like I said..pain in the butthole!

Oh well I always told them it's a love letter, coffee, tea, whatever I want to say and obviously not telling them the exact price. But well, it cost the same for me sending goods across the imaginary line.

But these days, I could simply send them something from websites that accept cryptocurrency without me having to go to the post office and going through all customs questions.

In some countries, postal conductors are certain to absorb the blood of citizens from the high prices, in addition to the low quality of services provided and the conditions they put in place

it's amazing, really so wonderful @hafez. thanks for sharing. i love your post.

There may be several countries, among them is korea is not a response to digital currency, I too prefer currencies because of a simpler process.

You are right. In some countries, a law that does not exist at all is applied,
Such should be prosecuted

Useful my friend thank yku again
