30 Care Packages For The Homeless!
After a week of overwhelming support we have purchased 30 care packages for the homeless!
Made up of:
Bottled water (handed out separately)
Toothpaste
Toothbrush
Bandaids
Deodorant
Lip balm
Tissues
Razors
Shave gel
Wipes
Quality socks
Pads/tampons (handed out separately)
Hair ties (for those who need them)
Donations are what made this possible!
Not just the $1,200+ raised though. The support and encouragement we received from friends, family and the general public (this includes you Steemit!) is invaluable. The advice given for the cheapest places to shop, the donated zip lock bags from a local baker, it all adds up.
We still need to purchase the food! That's tomorrows job, and with over $500 dollars left I think we will be able to buy plenty. After that, it's time to pack up the car and drive down to Sydney!
I would be lying if I said I wasn't nervous, this is new for me and my friends. We know it is worth it though, and I smile at the challenge's that await!
Thank you all for your support! No doubt I will be repeating this project in the months to come. I've got to get the first one out of the way to destroy any fears I have of doing it in the future.

hey @harrynewman, your post seems a bit undervalued, you did great work! where and how are you fundraising? have you thought about fundraising via steemit? because me who is writing this, @flurgx, is doing fundraising via steemit on a regular basis! I now want to write an article for the GoodNewsChannel introducing the best charity projects on steemit, and i´d like to feature you :) i haven´t read all your blog, but will do by the time! are you reachable in discord or telegram or chat?
Wow thank you for your compliments! I raised my donations through word of mouth, asking people I know if they would like to make a difference and sure enough then did. I learned a lot from my first trip down though, and will do things differently next time.

The socks and the hair ties would make me the most happy when homeless.
Don't be afraid of homeless people. They are no different than you - just not in good circumstances. I think the only trouble you might have is with police so watch out for them.
