Introspective Moments: How has Steemit Improved My Inner Self? Contest by @lexikon082

How has Steemit improved my inner self?

I’ve been having writer’s block on this topic for the past two days, but I have to get this one done before @lexikon082 starts breathing down my neck! After all, it is his contest initiative and he did give me a reminder to do this one already.

Hmmmmmm. . . . . .

To make it easier, I’d better take a step out of myself and analyse myself as an object. Here goes:-

@FOODIE.WARRIOR IS ADDICTED TO STEEMIT!

And that’s not necessarily good news. . . The addiction lures her away from family-time and the recommended amount of sleep daily. Her neck has a crick from using the laptop every day. Her eyes strained from constant laptop screen-gazing. Her brother-in-law bored stiff because she’s not played a game of chess with him for weeks.

Fortunately, there’s good news!

The Mann and her little brother can now chill and watch horror movies without her whining in protest because she simply can’t stomach horror movies (her hyperactive imagination means the fears get literally crippling). She’s happily occupied on Steemit.

Okay, on a serious note:

Steemit Improves Her Brain

Steemit has enhanced her cognitive processes. There is the mere daily practice of consuming and digesting written as well as pictorial content on an exceedingly diverse range of topics. Then there is each successive post she churns out that gives her muscles of writing, editing, content organisation, and photo-taking skills a good workout. Throw in some basic html coding that a bumbling techno-noob like her has *had* to pick up in order to make her posts more reader-friendly, . . . well! Her brain definitely packs loads more information into its convolutions as a result of her Steemit addiction!

Foodie.warrior’s ability to process and respond appropriately to comments is honed everyday. She gets to engage in interesting conversations that are both intelligent and respectful. In doing so, she is exposed to and learns how to better navigate the ins and outs of interaction with other parties. Her participation in communities allows her to play a fulfilling role in both supporting other members in their dreams and goals and getting others interested in her content in return.

Steemit Improves Her Heart and Gut Feelings

As she reads the stories and struggles of others, @foodie.warrior’s eyes are opened up further to life experiences that she has no personal experience with. This increases her awareness and, fortunately, her ability to empathise with these individuals on their respective journeys.

Her normal tendency to judge others on first impressions is also toned down, as she gets to first read their stories and get to know more about them through their content on Steemit. This scenario is rather the opposite of first-time face-to-face meet-ups. If one person has a Resting Bitch Face or a Mean-looking Mug, it might cause the other to form his private reservations even before words are exchanged.

Through her experience on Steemit, @foodie.warrior is also encouraged towards generosity to others. The generosity that she has received by fellow community members is a great example of leadership through example. She wants to return the warmth and love that she has been blessed with within the community.

These all balance out the bad effects of her Steemit Addiction :)

Lol this is true and I believe steem it help me to improve my writing as Ive never been able to write much.

hehe that's great to hear @tuakanamorgan! I certainly have never created content like all my posts so far..this is my first time blogging too :))

that is so funny thank you :)

Thanks so much for the boost, @sacred-agent! I should be the one thanking you for your kindness..Run safely! ;)

Haha. I'm exactly in the same boat - neck pains and sore eyes from staring at the screen for too long. Even the wife is complaining about my newfound addiction. However, Steemit is more than just another social media platform. It has the power to transform lives in poverty-stricken Nigeria to liberating corporate slave rats from their 9-to-5 with a simple upvote.

The possibility on Steemit is endless.

Very true. :) Get your wife to join steemit..I'm sure she will soon understand why you're so addicted..then you can trade shoulder massages together :))

haha. well, she's busier than me and by the time she gets back from work, she's pretty much exhausted. Perhaps, one day, one day I might very well convince her to write something on steemit.

It's going to be an uphill battle..... :D

Aww..yup, maybe you can change to a couple account and she can co-write on yours :)

Well, I made her create an account and she's just upvoting my post to try out steemit out. Blogging do take up a lot of time and I would say it's not everyone. Besides, she may not necessarily share the same interest as me. Forcing the wife to do something against her will might just result in some terrible consequences: ie. me taking the sofa and me doing all the cleaning.

Yes, the wife is much to be feared. :D

hehe I LOL-ed at your comment :) Clearly you have lots of experience being the husband and working your way around the sofa and cleaning :)) b

I agree that blogging is not for everyone.. different people have different interests and writing/photo-taking abilities. I'd say it can be honed, but if there is no passion, it might take far longer and end up demoralising the person...so yes, forcing is a no-go road :)

hehe you are so sweet, and it could be also be my post :P :P the neck problem is horrible :P :P

that neck crick :( Are there good clean massage parlours in Norway? :) Maybe you can get it sorted out. . .

haha I hope so, if not my bf can massage my neck :D

hehe what a great idea! especially when there is a nice sunset going on in the distance :))

This story post had me laughing and touched my heart all at the same time. I do agree writing makes you work your brain. The social interaction part is very true, especially because it can be hard to pinpoint someone's emotion in their words. This makes me reflect how I write and whether I am properly reflecting the feelings I am having in my words. I appreciate your honesty about judging on first impressions and how Steemit has helped you with that. It's great to read that the platform makes you ponder what type of community member you want to be through the example of others. I do believe this flows over IRL too. Great post @foodie.warrior.
