Curious Captures in Hà Nội City [Nr. 12]
Xin chao!
Its in the middle of summer here, 35 degrees, sunny and humid. So in between my work shifts I have fled into an air conditioned cafe to eat a banana cake and write about what I've seen on the streets since I came back from Yangon. This week no travel blog or anything fancy. Just a blog purely about the city and its scooters, shirts and benches, everything that inspired me to start this Curious Captures series.
Scooterfolk
Its hot! hot! hot! hot! So what is the new merchandise that I see people drive with?
Better be quick lai xe. Before it slides off your back..
Sad Shirts
The heat is making all the locals tired and grumpy. The two words "Nong qua!" (Too hot!) is what you hear everywhere. Maybe this is why I start seeing depressed shirts again.
The sun has literally sweat it out of him.
And if you wonder; "Yeah of course you are complaining about heat! These people are wearing jean jackets and thick shirts?!". Jep. Over here people start wearing more clothes, not less, when the sun comes out. If you look back at the drained guy picture. You can see the woman on the left. She is wearing a raincoat to cover herself completely. With probably a big face mask and sunglasses to complete what they call over here a Ninja outfit.
Bad Benches
Now I have shown you many parks and bad placed benches. Sometimes the benches look like they were just forgotten, sometimes they look like they have been dumped somewhere instead of actively placed. There is a big park quite close to my house, called Thong Nhat, which has a big lake and a little train track. The park is relatively well designed and taken care off. Its even one of the few parks you actually have to pay a small entrance fee for. Over here no forgetting or dumping.
Still putting benches in front of trees though.
They should place the benches under the tree, not in front. Then we could cool off a bit and get through this blazing summer in the shade. See you next time, I gotta go to my next work shift. Almost weekend though! Enjoy yours.
