The Cannabis Talk [2]: The International Call for Decriminalization

in #life7 years ago (edited)

Will the UN and WHO review and repeal the three treaties that called for nations to criminalize marijuana?

The Call for Decriminalization

Reviewing and repealing punitive laws that have been proven to have negative health outcomes and that counter established public health evidence. These include laws that criminalize or otherwise prohibit gender expression, same sex conduct, adultery and other sexual behaviours between consenting adults; adult consensual sex work; drug use or possession of drugs for personal use; sexual and reproductive health care services, including information; and overly broad criminalization of HIV non-disclosure, exposure or transmission.

Joint WHO/UN statement (27 June 2017). Searched all over the UN website, but couldn't find a link to the joint statement. I don't doubt that WHO and the UN are cooperating, just thought it'd be nice to have it from both.

It'll take more than a statement...

The review and repeal process is a long road. It wont happen overnight. We'll need to continue working at the local and regional levels to take back control of our health care and recreational freedoms. The "End Prohibition" movement has already made spectacular progress across the world, we can't let up.
