The Bitter Truth About the Current State of South Africa

in #life6 years ago

It saddens me so that many current events that affect the lives of millions of farmers in South Africa does not even reach the mainstream news. Many issues that are faced on a daily basis by me and others just like me, seems to get smeared over and swept under a rug. And until there is some form of awareness created for these perpetually occurring matters, I strongly doubt in any hope for survival of the white South African farmers.

First of all, let me start off by saying - I am in no way shape or form a racist.

But then again, one does not need to be a racist in order to realize the fact that current blatant genocide of white farmers in South Africa is a harsh reality and as such has become a real threat to my existence.

Surely there must be a reason - Right?

For the greater majority, the general answer to this question would be Apartheid/Racism.
And please do not get me wrong, I am under no illusion when it comes to the negative impact that apartheid had on this country, but also apartheid is something we have long since moved forward from.

Unfortunately it seems that by moving away from apartheid, we only made room for racism of a different type, that might lead to the overall downfall of this beautiful country that we find ourselves in.

Hate speech such as "one farmer one bullet" and "kill the farmer kill the boer" referring to the white South African farmers, is a common practice amid the political leaders, and the recent words of Julius Malema leader of the EFF political party, (one of the current ruling political parties in South Africa), just goes to show the cold blooded hatred that is currently fueling this country.

"We are not calling for the SLAUGHTER of ALL white farmers YET" ~ Julius Malema

Speaking to the general African youth in this country, you will quickly come to the realization that they feel very strongly that their claims to a disadvantaged stature during apartheid calls for cruel and malicious retribution on their behalf such as:

  • Land reformation without compensation - meaning that farmlands will be taken away from white farmers without any compensation given to them.
  • Violent torturing, raping and killing of white farmers;

And why - Because of the disadvantaged position that apartheid left them in or so they claim...

But are they really as disadvantaged as they would like you to believe, seeing as this generation of youth leading these forefront inhumane groups, were not even a part of the apartheid era?

In fact for over 20 years they have been given numerous advantages privileged only to them, in order to breach any prior gaps of disadvantage that there might have been due to apartheid, here are some of them and these are just listing a few:

  • free education
  • free medical
  • upgraded transportation (taxi owners were all given new vehicles by government)
  • BEE status (Black economic empowerment) ensuring an integrated workforce.

"Black Economic Empowerment (BEE) is a racially selective programme launched by the South African government to redress the inequalities of Apartheid by giving black (Blacks, Coloureds and Indians) South African citizens economic privileges not available to Whites." source

  • free housing exempt of basic fees such as electricity and water,
  • free farming land (taken from white farmers who were minimally compensated by government).

Ruefully all of these perks have been misused, the new schools that were built for them were burnt down and vandalized during strikes due to the fact that they wanted the schooling systems changed and the pass rates dropped - Government complied, dropped the schooling standards as well as the pass rates, increased the basic wages of black teachers unrealistically and built new schools, printed new school books and issued new school supplies with tax money.

And all of this was done by the government using tax payers money - oh, and should I add that currently less than 4% of people are tax payers?

Sadly even when you speak to the older generation of Africans the majority will tell you that even during the apartheid era, things were not as bad as they currently are in this country - on either side of the racial fence.

During more strikes for unrealistic wages, hospitals and taxi's were burnt down and vandalized, again government complied, rebuilt and replaced. BEE has been misused as a nepotistic factor by government officials and the free housing and farmlands that were given to them has been deemed inadequate - despite the fact that the majority of already taken farms has been transformed into agricultural wastelands, livestock and animals being culled, and the land stripped of trees & vegetation and all the given implementation either sold or stripped; and now they want more, this time however they insist on "white" farmland being taken without compensation and by force if necessary, where will it end?

I am currently 36 years old and honestly, I can not remember apartheid being a part of my life to start off with, and yet at this point my life and the lives of my family and friends are under constant threat, over the past few years, I have lost numerous friends and neighbors to brutal farm killings, I am in contact with numerous white farmers who have endured hours of torture and/or rape, I have seen many white farmers loose their land and then had to watch it be destroyed, and all of this is being blamed upon an apartheid that I have never even been exposed to.

If we want to build a better tomorrow for this country, why are they still stuck dwelling in the past, while trying to justify the worst possible acts against their fellow man, seated on a high horse of redirected racism?

Governments across the world do little to solve the problems of their people and often exacerbate them. It makes me want to weep when some people are so busy trying to find something to blame for their problems that they are happy to put it onto other groups. Yet if they worked together they could achieve so much and government wouldn't even need to be in the picture.

If EFF ever get into power the whites will be in the same position as the jews when Hitler got into power. It's not beyond happening and I hope you all have a way out prepared.

Oh that is so very true - there are a few selected families that might be able to get out of the country, but sadly the majority is stuck here - thank you for the support it is greatly appreciated!

You write beautifully about this wicked situation @breezin I'm so sorry that you are one of the farmers whose life, and those you love are under constant threat. We are still not that serious here in the Karoo. @openparadigm and @informationwar can you get this important news about our South African crisis circulated please? #informationwar

Thank you so much @buckaroo - yes it is certainly not an easy topic to write about - it is very hurtful to even think about it all, yes we are in the heart of it all here in Limpopo.

This is terrible Breeze and really something that seems to be ignored by most media. My heart goes out to you and your family... hope your all ok.

Still alive and kicking :D but yes certainly not the perfect picture on this side, well at least it is getting a slight amount of coverage after one of our political leaders calling for the land expropriation called Donald Trump stupid and a pathological lair and threatened him not to get involved...

That grimy Malema telegraphed this a couple months ago. I wonder if he's got teams of security around him. Takes either a lot of balls or just plain ignorance to act the way he's been acting.

Well he has stated that on numerous occasions thus far, and he has stated far worse things as well, I have had a personal encounter regarding him and also had the gun of an EFF member (his political party) held against my head - so definitely not one of my favorite people

I'm so sorry to hear that and hope that you can get out of there and or do whatever is necessary to survive. The peaceful answer might be to try and leave the country, or to not own a farm. Yet, even with not owning land who knows how far it will escalate. First they came for whitey the farmer and I did nothing... and so on and so forth.

Thank you - and may I add that it was a wonderful piece of added literature, very applicable indeed!!!

The sad reality is that populism has no need to be realistic, merely popular. With enough deluded supporters the demagogues gain office, and implement whatever slaughter gains them political power.

'Apres moi, le deluge.' The words of Louis XIV ring true in the streets of Johannesburg as they did once in Versaille, before the bloody revolution filled the gutters with lifesblood and the word 'terrorism' was coined to define the new French government.

I but hope you and yours navigate this storm to safety and enduring felicity.

As always - so brilliantly voiced. Thank you so much my friend!

Much love your way, I hope shit either gets better or you gtfo of there. Try to stay safe. <3

Thank you so much - that means a lot!! Yes we are going to hope that things get better then LOL because getting out is a luxury that very few can afford!

Appreciate you getting the message out. Upvoted and followed!

Thank you ever so much for the support!

Hey@brexin. I am with you all the way , I am not a farmer but live in Johannesburg. it is apartheid in reverse and they have now been in power 24 years. Honestly what has been achieved. The first 10 years they blamed the previous government and now they can only blame themselves.

That is so very true!

sounds like they only blame white people
