Being PunctualsteemCreated with Sketch.

Are you the type of person that shows up late for just about any occasion? Or are you the person that is always right on the money each and every time without a minute to spare. Or maybe your the type of person that is afraid of being late and shows up extra early just to be sure that you won't be late.

Me personally, I'm almost never late and am usually very early because I'm that guy that doesn't like to be late. It's just my nature, I've always been punctual. It has always been a big pet peeve of mine for someone to be late, especially when it's a poor excuse and there was no communication involved. I have a friend that is notorious for being late all the time and it drives me crazy! And the thing about it is that he acts like it's no big deal.

I find it very rude to waste someone else's time. Some may not look at it that way but that's how I take it. Time is a very precious thing and is often taken for granted and can never be returned.

If you are the person that tends to be late, please try looking at things a little differently, here are a few tips:

Set a reminder on your phone

Add 30 minutes more than what you plan on it taking you to get ready and get there

Put yourself in the other persons shoes and think about how it would feel to be sitting there just waiting on someone

If you're going to be late, at least call the person BEFORE the scheduled time to let them know that you will be late

I understand that things happen and sometimes being late is unavoidable but there are many times where people are just being selfish and inconsiderate with other peoples time. I hope someone got something from this post. If I changed the ways of just one tardy person, then my work here is done! Have a great day folks!

Hahaha! I HATE (and I rarely use that word) to be late for anything.
I always have to be running ahead of myself because #1, I'm paid by the minute in my profession and #2, being a Spa Director has meant that I constantly run contingency planning for my team. "If this happens, go to plan B, if that fails initiate plan C. This involves running scenarios and planning for unforeseen things...like equipment failure, last minute treatment change requests and other people choosing to be late. I constantly am building in contingency plans into the hours of my day.
@bluelightbandit, you know this does not really help us and WE both need to relax our anal rings and work on letting go of "control" a little bit.
It's the hardest hurdle to overcome. When I worked corporately, my team called me "little bear" and "little Hitler" depending on the day. I am actually not proud of this, but with 200 employees, I had to run a tight ship and if you let the team down because you didn't follow plan or make the correct decision, there were consequences. These consequences were rarely life and death, but in your world they are and that's part of why it gets to us so badly, I think...

This is crazy and I knew as well as you did that we are both are wired the same, and we both had ( and you still have ) strenuous professions in which tardiness was not accepted. You're right about why it gets to me so bad because every second is critical. But I swear to my soul... I busted out laughing my fucking ass off when you mentioned "relax our anal rings" and I thank you @rebeccaryan for that because I needed a good laugh today!

This (making you laugh) is actually the best medicine that I can give you.
It is my pleasure and I consider it my responsibility to do so. LOL!

@bluelightbandit
I don't like to be late. I would rarely be late. Almost always too early. Ha
I am a clock watcher when I have an appointment.
Oh well. Too old to change now. lol

Same way here buddy, can't stand it and won't never change. Thanks for chiming in!

Please see my reply to Francis (below).
(I may have a problem.)
LMFAO!
ya chew beside me too loudly and you're dead to me.

OMG! I am the EXACT SAME WAY! I can't stand to hear someone smack their mouth or whatever other creative sounds they can come up with at the moment! If I have guests over to eat, I ALWAYS have something playing in the background. It might just be a movie playing or the stereo on but I have to have some type of secondary sound to focus on other than someone talking with their mouth open or smackin those chops sounding like someone walking through thick mud. I'm getting pissed just thinking about some of my recent experiences. The last dinner I had with a (distant) family member about drove me bat shit crazy. She was sitting right beside of me and while breathing through her nose, she obviously had a healthy sized booger up in there because the whistling sound sounded like one of those lil Kazoo noise makers or maybe even like a turbo charger winding up. That was just one of many sound effects she had in store for me that night. She could have went to the restroom and cleared that badboy out but noooo, she just let it hang in there!

How?!? How?!? could she not know? I could feel the rage rising in my legs as I read each sentence... which was a really odd sensation because at the same time that I got to the Kazoo and whine of the Turbo, I was really laughing.
Sorry about that. It's awful to laugh at. I don't know how you made it all the way through dinner. One quick, sharp throat punch...is all I'm going to say.
Let's file this under:
Won't be late.
Does not eat well with others.
Needs to medicate first.
(For both of us) LMFAO

She's hard of hearing so I dunno if she even realizes she sounds like a 747 getting ready to take off or not. In between whistles, she also grunts with her smacks. She means it as a compliment to the cook but she does it fucking constantly, over and over again! You ask how I stand it? It takes every bit of strength in my body to contain myself. We have to quit talking about this. One day one of us is going to turn on the news and see where one of us went postal at the dinner table.

Oh dear, I'm afraid I'm a clock watcher too...the problem is deeper than I thought. LOL!

OK, while we are syncing brain waves I must confess that I also suffer from extreme and I mean extreme Misophonia or sound rage. I cannot tolerate the sound of people chewing and eating food loudly. It fills me with such rage and disgust that I sometimes have to physically leave the room...thankfully, it's only noises associated with eating or chewing gum.

@rebeccaryan
Thank you for warning this gum chewer. I don't want to be near an outraged lady. lol
I chew gum. Not all the time though. Mostly late evening.
It let's off tension I think. Maybe that is why I never smoked. Never needed to.
So, when we all meet. I will leave the gum at home. I hope that helps. Ha

So glad to see you posting again. Perhaps that is an indication that you are feeling better. For the most part I am a very punctual person. I can be a little tardy when it's an activity that I am not looking forward to. 🐓🐓

Thank you again for the welfare check, it was greatly and sincerely appreciated! I hope that I continue to feel better. I understand your position on the undesired activities, as I am the same way and I may make a quick appearance to be polite and then make an even quicker getaway lol!

If you're early you're on time...
If you're on time you're late...
If you're late you're in trouble...

That's the saying I was always taught anyway! Of course being early can be taken to the extreme sometimes. In the military the commander would often tell his lieutenants something along the lines of "make sure your platoons are ready by 0600" the platoon leaders would then tell the platoon sergeants "make sure the boys are ready by 0530" the PSG would then tell his squad leaders "make sure your guys are ready by 0515" the squad leaders would then tell their team leaders "make sure your shitheads are ready by 0500" the word that finally got passed down to the lower enlisted by the team leaders would be "make sure you're ready to move out at 0430"
Now this is a bit extreme, but stuff like it did happen all the time. Often we'd show up somewhere and end up waiting for hours because the never late strategy didn't follow any actual logic, haha

Despite all that I still try and always be early no matter if it's for work, class, or meeting friends for fun!

LOL Sounds like you and I are a lot alike!

Ha! I am the same. People who are perpetually late drive me crazy! I generally turn up to things a couple minutes early.. it just seems rude to make people wait on you.

Agreed! It doesn't matter what the situation is, whether I'm meeting someone somewhere or they're coming to my house or whatever it is, the end result is always the same.... My time has been wasted and forever gone.

I arrive to work no earlier than 5 minutes late to a meeting. It drives me crazy, but no meting where I work starts on time.

lol Thanks for taking the time to read my post and comment @gniksivart meeting rarely do start on time!

Hey girl, I got a question! Should I just use the tag when I'm posting about precious metals or should I use the tag whenever I post anything in general? Just FYI I try to vote every post you put out. Many thanks for your time!

Thanks for the votes, buddy. I'd say just use the tags for metal related content, or something that is somehow related. You will get your votes from Stax, no matter what tag you use!

I too, am someone who is always punctual. But I have friends who are perpetually late. We used to joke, saying they would be late for their own funeral. It is frustrating when you need to wait for someone. What I do now with the friends, is if I know we need to be somewhere at a certain time, I give the time as being one hour earlier. It works most of the time but on occasion they slip up and once even showed up two hours late!

Lol Ya know, I have also used that tactic and approach, especially with my wife. She is usually the cause for me having to break speed limits, so many times I will have tell her an earlier time than the actual one. Another great idea!
