Wicked Tattooed Mom

in #life7 years ago (edited)

That's me lol.

Hi, everyone. Lately, I’ve read a couple of insightful articles that address "Tattooed Parents." and I read a comment that goes, "I believe the problem is not with the person who has the tattoo, but with the person who thinks a tattooed person is a "bad guy". I was like, 'high five on that one!" I am a mother of a beautiful girl and yes, I do have tattoos. Only two (2) tattoos. One on my right foot and the other is on my left calf/leg. I have had some friends and relatives ask me how I feel that the way I look could affect my mom's life and other "not so good" comments. So I said, "in a good way!"

So to start with, what's the story behind those tatts? My first one is a purple butterfly tatt on my right foot. I am a huge fan of butterflies and angels. When my husband and I first met online and were getting to know each other, he told me that his favorite color was purple - and so do I. I remember me giggling constantly at every stupid joke he made and told me I am like beautiful angels fluttering and flying high lol. Always smiling and laughing. Anyway, before he knew it, I made a website with flying purple butterflies and poetry that I wrote for him with the background music "In the arms of an angel". Ever since it's been everything purple, especially butterflies and angels. I then thought of getting a butterfly tattoo.

My husband is from Vegas and when he came to visit me for the first time, we both got a tattoo as a remembrance of our love story. There it is, the purple butterfly. On his wrist, he had my name tattoed as well.

My second tattoo is a heart with angel wings. We had the same design but he had it on his arm instead. We got this both on our 3rd wedding anniversary. Instead of dining out or watching a movie together, this was our date was made of.

The design by the way was sketched by me and cannot be found on any tattoo catalogs. I am not as good as those sketch artists here or anything like that, but I am proud, my design is on my skin hehe.

When I was a lil younger, I never thought of having a single tattoo. Now, these can hold so much meaning to me.

My mother though was preaching me for days and weeks why I tried getting inked. I just told her, "it's a part of my life". What a person puts on their body may reflect on them as a human being, but it doesn't have to make them who they are. We shouldn't judge someone by the ink on their skin. To me, it's one of the ways to show your individuality and a way of self-expression that is forever.

For first timers or if you're planning to get inked, you should consider the following before doing it.

  1. It's permanent. - Like it or not, it will be on your skin forever. If it doesn't have any meaning to you, don't do it. There are ways to remove it like lazers, but it doesn't really give a smooth finish or doesn't erase perfectly.

  2. You will always be judged. - Based on my personal experience, I've got a lot of negative comments like, "it doesn't look good" on on me especially I'm already a mom and so on.

  3. Make sure your tattoo artist have sanitary permit and stuff like those. - Research first if the tattoo clinic is clean and the kits are sanitized. You might end up getting skin rashes or worse. Know your artist very well too.

To end my story, I wouldn’t worry about what others would be thinking of moms with tattoos. I'm a genuine person. I don't drink. I don't smoke. I don't party. I don't cheat or anything like those. By the way, I am not saying that those who drink and smoke are bad. They do what they do. I do what I do. As long as we're not putting others down, that's all that matters. Some people are just getting way too far judging others. Other people hopefully will learn someday that appearances like getting inked are superficial. That's it. Thank you for reading! Have a wicked day all. One love.~bloghound~

Hi @bloghound,

First, I also have tattoo so I can relate for most what you mentioned. I just wanted to say regardless if you have a tattoo or not people in this world will judge you not just your physical appearance but how you speak, the way walk, how much you earn, your relationship, your family background so why bother. :)

Nailed it @grazz . Thank you for that sentiment and nice to meet you as well :)

@bloghound I somewhat felt those as well. nice meeting you as well

Please participate in my last post contest. I haven't seen your post for long now

@surpassinggoogle you mean, ME? I posted an URL to your last post after my last comment. If I understood it right :) Lemme go check again! Thank you, Terry!

Yup! I resteem and upvoted your post @surpassinggoogle. I don't know if I can join though. My internet service is so crappy we sometimes don't have any service at all.

Okay. There will be many more variations of it as it is an initiative, so no problem.

I'll be happy to help for this contest. How are you?

But i wonder how. The only way is tough and involves resteeming the entries but i forgot the tell entries to use a tag, so they submit it to my post instead and my own browser crashes everytime, trying to load the page cos the comment thread is filled. Do you have ideas?

I followed you.I'm new in steemit I love photography.

i don't think we can judge people from tattoo yes it little okwards here because here generally girls don't do it but if they do its doesn't mean they are bad, people have freedom and they have different hobbies but they cant change for others if its not bad. you are wonderful person with golden heart, i don't have problem if you have 2 tattoo or 20 tattoo.

Thank you for the kind words,Birju. You're such a good friend :)

@bloghound personally I hate tattoos. I don't want any ink on my skin nor I want my future husband to have one. But that doesn't mean I judge people with tattoos.

I met many people in my life and based on my own observations, people with tattoos are kinder than those people who claimed to be a devoted Christian. They claimed to be one but the way they live their lives is far from the teaching of Christianity. They easily judge, criticize, and assume without knowing the real person.

Tattoos are actually part of our culture. It's an art. I now learned to appreciate tattoo arts but then again, I don't want any of those in my own skin. I just appreciate them from other people's skin.

I actually like your tattoo it's cute and cool to watch. Being a good mom should not be judge based on her physical appearance but in her actions. Thanks for sharing your story.
