Reputation in the Modern Age...Takes time to build it and seconds to destroy it

"It takes 20 years to build a reputation and five minutes to ruin it. If you think about that, you'll do things differently." - Warren Buffet
I've noticed it's best to talk less because the more you open your mouth the more you have a chance to really screw up what you say.
In this day in age, with the internet and social justice warriors all over the place, we are very vulnerable to reputation attacks and voices have never been easier to hear. Many speak there opinions all over the internet, let there emotions take over on sensitive issues. Then without notice, you've said something wrong and you are being shunned by community members, friends, and others. People bombard your workplace, home, almost everywhere you go.
These days it has never been more important to watch out for your reputation as the power of the internet and for people has exploded. This could cause a problem even when you have not done really anything wrong and is why we must be extra careful. For example, a woman can accuse a man of rape, even though he hasn't committed this act, spreading the word of something such as this will stick to the man for many years if not forever.

Once you do something incorrect in the societies eyes, you will have a difficult time repairing that reputation that you may have once had.
This is why we must create a strong reputation and do what we have to, to keep it that way. On top of that, our strong reputation will give us more value and influence to get what we want in life. This will allow people to listen more to us and assist when we need it. This is highly beneficial to everybody and should not be taken as a negative sign, as some tend to believe this is deceiving people. It inly means you are intelligent and know how people work. People like you more when you know what you are doing with them.
This is so true. Especially in social media where slips of the fingers can destroy someone for life. Reputation is important, but it's more important to stay true to who you are than to be loyal to a public persona. Not sure if that makes sense!
