You Don't Need To Hold Yourself BacksteemCreated with Sketch.

It is sad the kind of things we often do to ourselves, and holding ourselves back seems to be one of those things. We set limits for ourselves, limits that never existed. And by so doing we keep ourselves back from reaching our potentials or living life fully.

Don't get me wrong, it is not bad for you to set limits for yourself (healthy ones), but sometimes, we go way overboard and set unreasonable limits even where limits are not needed

We hold ourselves back from loving because we fear we might get hurt. We hold ourselves back from following our dreams because it seems too big and overwhelming, we fear we might fail.

We hold ourselves back from exploring life because we fear the unknown. We hold ourselves back from walking away because we fear we might be alone. Little do we know that these little (and big) things we hold ourselves back from doing stops us from living the life that we deserve.

A life filled with love, adventures, gratitude and fulfilment. When we hold ourselves back, we are unknowingly choosing not to "live".

While following your dreams might not be problem free, if you are convinced enough, then you should go for it. Because no matter how hard you run from it, you will always find your way back to it.

You might fail on your first try, but it doesn't make you a failure until you choose to be one. Let yourself free and enjoy the journey towards your dreams.

Choosing to love doesn't mean everything will work out perfectly but it means giving it an opportunity to work out well, and when it doesn't (or turns toxic), you don't hold yourself back from walking away either.

Life seems like a risk already, so why not take one more risk? If you fail, you should try to get back up again. If you get hurt, let yourself heal. If you get lost, find yourself again. But don't just hold yourself back. Not from loving and definitely not from healing!

There are great things we would have done, amazing friendships or relationships we would have built and opportunities we would have enjoyed if only we didn't hold ourselves back.

It is sad how much of an obstacle we can be to ourselves. But it doesn't have to be so, not at all! So, why don't you give yourself the opportunity of living once again? Go ahead, Let yourself free and live life to the fullest!!

.

Much Love, Audrey

Holding yourself back can be quite a sneaky thing too, done without even realizing it. I've been catching myself in that position lately, and trying to alter it.

That is so true, sometimes we do that even without realizing. I am glad that you do put an effort into altering it.

Interested to know whether you started out that way and are now not holding back or was always a free spirit?

A little bit of both actually. As a kid, I was free-spirited but I changed while growing up (well, some things kinda contributed to that). I have however learnt that it doesn't have to be that way and it is okay for me to step out once again and live life.
