A Walk in the Park: Photographic Short Stories, Volume VII

in #life7 years ago

This is the third installment of the orange grove series and the first on the property’s waterfront.

In the first two parts of this series, we took a stroll down a nature trail and we explored the orange grove home and surrounding buildings and scenery. On the west edge of this property there is a waterfront view.

Let’s check it out!

Looking west from the property, about 100 yards from the main home, we had this view.

My wife and I walked down a short path in order to reach the boardwalk that extended out into the water. This was the view from the end of the path, looking north-northwest.

As we stepped onto the wooden planks and maneuvered past some idle park-goers, I took another shot to the north.

Finally alone and with nobody in our way, I snapped a photo of our view to the west. We made it! We were officially over the water, past the crowds, and headed to the main destination for the day!

Another look to the north...

And to the south...

Almost there...

And...we arrived!

Some people ruined my shot here. This is why we can’t have nice...photos?

This is what the water looks like. No, it’s not brown. That’s just the bottom. The water appeared to be pretty shallow here – perhaps two feet deep, even at the end of the boardwalk.

The sun was pretty bright at the moment, but I took this picture anyway. This is a weathered kayak launch being fully showcased in the low tide.

We gradually made our way back to land and prepared to journey down to the sand and water below.

As we made our way down to sea level, we passed this little darling. It really brightened up its tiny neighborhood along the forest’s edge.

We climbed down a gentle slope and approached some of the stripped and fallen trees that would normally be surrounded by water, or partially under it.

We finally reached the wet sand and had a look around.

After all of that excitement, we’ll have to leave it here for now! I don’t want to give my viewers any sensory overload, so there will be one final post upcoming in this orange grove series. We’ll take a look at some of nature’s building blocks, a few more shots of the flora, and of course – the abandoned train!

You won’t want to miss the dramatic conclusion! See you next time!
