How does 8 years just fly by?
We would like to introduce our oldest daughter.... AJ.
Yesterday we celebrated her birthday. She turned 8 years old. I sometimes just watch her doing things around here, sewing her new dress designs, building castles with cardboard or Lego, diligently writing down her recipe for "mud cake" (yes, literally mud)... and I am just in awe of all the things she's already accomplished in her relatively short existence on this planet.
I find myself in envy of her childhood, free of the constant onslaught of consumerism and advertisements. Getting to wake up every day in a sort of paradise, free of most pollution, the sound of nature and not automobiles. Not having to BE anywhere or DO anything specifically, being allowed to choose her own activities. We have succeeded in giving her an environment in which she will thrive, be challenged, be loved and can cherish.
Happy birthday to an amazing, loving and intelligent daughter, sister and friend.

It’s remarkable what they can do to teach us isn’t it? The sheer innocence and joy they get out of the smallest things is too precious to understand until you are a parent. I pray that her and every child can maintain this innocence and life as long as possible, it’s incredible to watch!
