Under a cup of tea was my coming out letter; a sip, and I would be out.
I took the letter to my moms bedroom and I showered. Really the onlt thing I remember was the thump of of nervous heart. And in my head, I Will Survive by Gloria Gaynor played on repeat.
I stepped out of the shower to my moms voice calling me and the thundering in my chest intensified. She had obviously read my letter.
The next few days was a blur. My mother screamed at me for hours. Said I'd never be a real man; admitted to wanting to kill me and herself once.
My feelings were obviously lying to me, she thought. Only she knew who I really was inside. I couldn't leave the room, she wouldn't let me.
That screaming lasted for a couple of days. First it was my mother, then it was my father. Although, my father more demeaned me and made it a debate.
People expect coimg out to be sunshine, but really, that is the farthest from the truth.
If you want my truth, then there it is. I commend you, a lot of people don't even ask. They only want the stories that make them feel good.
It isn't something new. These are facts. Right? As heterosexuality is a fact. So how do you answer this question? What is the question? Why do we make it into such an enormous problem? Apparently we don't make heterosexuality a problem at all, but we make this into a problem, why? It is a fact.
You can't change the line of that mountain, or the flight of the bird, or the flow of the water, swift, you just observe it, and see the beauty of it. But if you observe and say, that is not so beautiful as the mountain I saw yesterday, you are not observing, you are merely comparing.
I think the answer to that question is simple, really. We fear what we don't know; what is foreign to us. At least that's what the neanderthal us wants to do.
To transphobes, there is to beauty to what I am. When you can dehumanize someone, you can justify doing all manner of evil to them.
Some people are prey to what they were raised in and want no other alternative, or see no other alternative. People don't like their beliefs to be challenged, so they are pushed further into willful ignorance.
I do think, however, that there is a huge difference between ignorance and willful ignorance.
Truth is definately stranger than fiction my friend. lol
Please source your images. That one is from HRC's website, which is entirely copyrighted. You are free to use CC0 or "free-to-use" images from many websites but using one that is copyrighted for commercial use could get you into trouble.
Also if you search for an image using Google, on the "Images" tab there is a button for "Tools" where you can select "Labeled for re-use". It is still a good idea to source images, even CC0 ones, so folks like me don't wonder where it came from, and to always verify with the content's source what their exact copyright policy is. Usually it can be found on a websites Terms of Use or similar page.
I don't mean to be obnoxious. I really don't. A comment from me is better than a flag from Steemcleaners. :)
Oh. It might be then. There's a copyright notice at the bottom of HRC's web pages and I found a reference on their Privacy Policy page to their Terms of Service, but couldn't find the actual Terms of Service. If you verified that the image is not their copyrighted content, then I apologize for suggesting otherwise.
