Cider gum, whose botanical name is eucalyptus gunnii, is a large species of flowering plant in the myrtaceae family.

It is native to the forests of Tasmania, namely the plains and slopes of the central plateau and the dolerite mountains up to about 1100 meters altitude, and is also found south of Hobart.

The tree typically grows up to 35 m tall and forms lignotuber.

When young, the leaves are heart-shaped to more or less rounded and gray-green or whitish in color. As adults, the leaves grow alternately, lance-shaped to ovate, dull gray to blue-green in color.
