A Look Out to Sea from Positano

A look out to sea

This was taken from our visit to Italy last year. As the title suggests it is a look down on Positano , which was a very cool little town to visit. Although getting there was a bit more of a mission :) . First we took the metro to Sorrento and from there you can either rent mopeds or take the bus which will stop at Positano and then keep going on to Amalfi(from what I understand anyways).

We took the bus , and if you do happen to take the bus , try and get a seat because they let more people on the bus than there are seats. So we winded up standing , which isn't really that bad as long as you don't get motion sick. Unfortunately for me anyway I do get motion sick quite easily. So even with my motion sickness medicine I was feeling it a little too , but in the end the ride was a bit too much for my son. I did happen to make the comment that the driver thought he was Mario Andretti driving a Ferarri , which is certainly what it felt like. And these were roads that a bus probably had no business driving on , but they did anyway , and they were used to it , which I would assume is why the driver was driving like that. Hairpin turns , on the coast (so a cliff off to one side) , and barely enough room for two buses to pass each other , and when they did it was only a few mm between them (you could literally touch the other bus if you could have stuck your hand out the window).

Anyways , besides the exciting bus ride getting there , the scenery along the coast was pretty awesome , along with the town of Positano itself the scenery and atmosphere was very nice. Our original plan was to go all the way to Amalfi , but we didn't think we could make it there if the ride was going to be like that , but as I'd mentioned Positano was very nice and more than made up for the bus ride there. We did take the bus back to Sorrento at the end of the day , and that ride was so much better than the one getting there. The driver was an older gentleman who took his time on the roads, and we did happen to get seats also , so I'm sure that made it a bit better also :)
