The small 'Chinese Wall' ~ Mouflon reserve ~

The Chinese Wall (called by the local people) It was built in 1497, it is six to nine meters high and 60 centimeters wide. The preserved 15th century ramparts overlap the entire peninsula of Oštrica.

Of course, the rampart has lost its defensive function, and mouflon is now behind the wall.

Mouflon is a kind of wild sheep.It is considered that mouflon is one of two species that are ancestors of modern domestic sheep. They have a red-brown coat with dark straps on his back, while his is slightly brighter on the stomach. Males have big horns, while females can or may not have them. Originally from the area of ​​southwestern Asia, through Turkey, they arrived to the Balkans and to the islands of Corsica and Sardinia. In Croatia, mouflon was first introduced to Brijuni, and from there it's presence spread to hunting grounds on the Adriatic coast.
