My Entry for the Jitterbug Blockchain Cryptocurrency Challenge
Hey Blockchain! Do I love you or do I not? Thanks to @joanstewart and her new challenge, I am about to try to decide.
Why I love Blockchain and Crypto Technology
- It gets me out of my comfort zone
I only came into this by blogging for steemit. I came for the Alexa ranking and to get my message posted in a place people could find it. But now, I’m learning all kinds of technical information about things I had no idea were even happening. I feel like this is a good stretch for me and I’m glad to be an early adopter of this technology.
- It earns me diversified income
My income, such that it is, comes from many sources. I have book sales at Amazon and Selz. I earn affiliate income from social media posting. I earn income by coaching others in weight loss and social media skills. Now I also earn money by blogging. I have a wordpress blog at fitinfun.com, but it is mostly informational and earns me very little.
Since coming to steemit, I earn money here and also earn Superior Coin through Kryptonia and Manna Coin over there. None of it is a lot, but all of it helps me.
- Introduces me and my work to a new segment of the population
My main goal in life is to help other obese people lose weight and get healthy like I did. Steemit has been a good place for my message and I get interest and feedback for my weight loss information. This interest is hard to come by, so this is a big win for me.
What Scares me the Most about Blockchain and Crypto Technology
- The uncertainty of return
The ups and down of the crypto markets are very disturbing to my peace of mind. I try not to focus on this aspect of the deal, but often fail. I frequently check prices of things I did not even know about until recently.
- I have complete reliance on systems I do not understand
I have no idea what a blockchain really is. This again is something I try not to worry about. Better minds than me are confused, so at least I do not feel completely stupid. I have many links I could read to get more information about this topic, but I do not understand many things I rely on, so I’m hanging back.
- It distracts me from my other work and life
As much as I say I try not to focus on things I do not understand I still do and sometimes spend hours trying to figure something out and then fail.
One small example of this is witness voting at steemit. I’m convinced I should do it and have voted for some witnesses. But how do I know who is a good witness? I don’t. I asked a few questions and got all kinds of links to look at. If I look at them I will spend hours on the task. Will I learn anything? Do I need to learn that information? I do not know.
In Summary
I’m in. I’m not getting out soon. I will just keep posting and trying to stay on my main task of helping people lose weight.

Thank you @rubelynmacion. You should post for this one too :)
Agree.. Making some $$ is great but we have yet to even comprehend this infant technology and what changes it will bring.
Great post!
It is a whirlwind for sure :)
Thanks for your entry @fitinfun reading how some of us arrive into blockchain and cryptocurrency, grappling with the idea, then keep moving forward learning is most interesting. Have a wonderful new week.
Thank you @joanstewart - I'm glad I got the chance to do this post. Great idea on your part :)
You did a really great job putting your information together. I will be using it for a benchmark for my entry and I will make sure to give you credit of course as my inspiration. I am sure you know more than you are letting on. I have read a few of your posts and you seem pretty sharp and I am sure you have helped many people get those extra pounds off and it sounds like motivate them and help them keep those pounds off. I am lucky, I have never had to worry about my weight, but have seen the struggles many have. Your before and after pictures are amazing.
I have to give a shout out to Ms. @joanstewart and @SydesJokes for putting this little challenge together. Thank y'all!

Thank you for the compliments! That is so nice to read. I look forward to reading your post too. I think this was helpful for me - just to clear my hard about the subject.
I help who I can help, but my life in weight loss coaching is daunting. I wish I could find a way to help more people since I now how much better a thin and healthy life is.

Hi Sharon!
I am gonna quickly help you with this question
A good witness is very social, runs the Steem network on high performance servers with a very long uptime (aka no restarts) and he improves Steem in some way.
Take a look at the top 5. Are they posting? Do they answer comments? Are they active in communities? Are they greedy with upvotes? Do they actively do something to improve Steem?
If the answer to most of these questions is "no" then look no further, they are not doing a good job and you should remove your vote.
There is more to witnessing then just running a server and there are over 400 witnesses which are not displayed on the official top 50 witness list.
Check out this list by @Drakos to see all witnesses: https://steemian.info/witnesses
Hi Philip - thank you so much for your input - You do not know how much I appreciate this. I had no idea about the 400+ at all. I have voted for a few not-on-the-list because I do know them and relate to them.
I saw you are going for it after I made my recent changes and you of all people most definitely have my vote next time I go in there to update my votes - later this week for sure. You are exactly the type of person to get things done and I am really happy to see you trying it.
Thank you Sharon! I can recommend the following witnesses: @TimCliff, @Ura-soul, @Quochuy, @drakos & @sircork.
They are all active and care about the community.
Thanks for the recommendations Philip. I will look. I think @ura-soul is the only one of them I have seen in 9 months here. I'm not recognizing the other names but I will put it on my list to go over to their blogs.
