Her husband Sarwar Hasan Jamil is also currently serving as an executive member of Chittagong North District Awami League.
Rumana Nasreen is the current executive member of Sandwip Upazila Mahila Awami League, lifetime member of Sandwip Association, executive member of Sandwip Education Society, A. K. Academy Gachua, Donor Member of Sandwip, Adviser of Sandwip Students Forum, M. Adviser to Obaidul Haque Foundation, former student member of Rabeya Bashri Girls High School, Halishahar, Chittagong. He is also an advisor to Sonali Media and Publications, Sonali Media Forum.
Rumana Nasreen is always serving the welfare of the helpless and distressed people of the society through her personal and family initiatives.

Every year M. Obaidul Haque foundation is doing various service work including sewing machine, distribution of winter clothes, distribution of rickshaws, scholarship, medical camp, assistance in marriage of distressed women, distribution of zakat, distribution of iftar materials, distribution of educational materials among students, etc. .
