CHAPTER 9. 가상화폐 시대의 플랫폼, 그 때 그 것이었다(The Platform of the Virtual Money Age, then it was)

뒤통수를 한대 얻어맞은 기분이다.
그 때 그 것이 이 것이었단 말인가.

아침에 눈을 뜨자마자 시작되는 일과가 휴대폰 즐겨찾기로 설정된 가상화폐 거래소 보기, 해외 거래소 확인하기, 스팀잇 들여다보기이다.

그리고 출근 준비를 시작한다. 회사에서도 계속 되는 코인 이야기. 직원들과 함께 정보를 공유하고, 점심시간에도 각자의 휴대폰 속 거래 정보를 확인하느라 눈동자와 손가락의 움직임은 더욱 바빠진다.

얼마 되지 않은 시간 동안 벌써 우리 삶 속에 자리 잡은 가상화폐 세상. 뿐만 아니라 스팀잇을 알고부터는 이 곳 세상의 재미와 원리를 알아가느라 정신없는 하루를 보낸다. 퇴근 이후부터 잠자리에 들기 전까지도 내 손에 쥐어진 휴대폰에 고정된 시선은 쉽사리 바뀌지 않는다.

어쩌면 지금의 이런 상황은 미리 알았는지도 모른다. 3년 전 인터뷰를 갔다가 이런 이야기를 들은 적이 있다.

“구글, 페이스북, 유튜브 같은 세계적인 기업들이 하나로 통합되는 작업을 진행하고 있어요. 이미 투자가 들어갔고, 개발진들이 새로운 개발에 나섰다고 합니다. 나중에는 아마 휴대폰 안에 돈까지도 들어갈지 모르겠어요. 개인이 스스로가 돈이 되고, 콘텐츠가 되는 세상이 조만간 오겠죠.”

그 이야기를 들었을 때 충격을 받긴 했지만 쉽게 이해는 되지 않았다. 그때까지도 BJ가 막 생겨서 붐이 일고 있었을 때였고, 지금과는 다르게 페이스북이나 인스타그램 같은 SNS가 돈을 벌어온다는 개념이 크게 없었기 때문이다. 개인이 돈을 벌고 순위가 매겨진다는 말은 굉장히 낯선 것이었다.(아프리카TV의 개념이 아닌 통합된 플랫폼)

당시 들었던 저 이야기는 언제나 불현듯 물음표를 던졌다. 도대체 통합이라는 게 어떤 이미지인 것인가. 온다면 언제쯤인가. 세계적인 기업들이 움직이는데 세상 사람들은 왜 모르는 것일까. 이따금씩 저 말이 생각날 때마다 사람들에게 물어봤었다. 저런 세상이 올 거라는데 상상이 되냐고. 그럴 때마다 의아한 표정을 짓는 사람들을 보며 다시 한 번 내 상상을 돌이켰다.

그런데 그 말로도 설명 안 되는 플랫폼이 이 안에 들어와 있다. 개인이 콘텐츠가 되고, 이 시스템이 또 다른 문화를 만들고 있다. 스스로가 돈이 되고, 콘텐츠가 된다. 물론 이 플랫폼을 이해하는 데에는 아직도 시간이 더 걸릴 거라 본다.

하지만 스팀잇 같은 플랫폼은 점차 늘어날 것이다. 아니, 이미 진행되고 있다.

블록체인 생태계라는 게 어쩌면 곧, 우리 삶의 일부가 될 것이다. 폴더 폰을 쓰다 스마트폰을 쓰게 된 것처럼. 처음에는 값비싼 가격과 사용자의 세대별 차이를 만들어낸다는 이유로 갑론을박이 뜨거웠던 그 시절을, 우리는 지금은 잊어버렸다.

처음이라는 것은 한치 앞도 볼 수 없기 때문에 공포스럽기도 하고, 설렘을 주기도 한다. 지금의 우려스러운 목소리는 어쩌면 당연한 현상일지도. 하지만 우리는 그동안 수많은 시도와 시행착오를 겪어냈고, 언제나처럼 우려는 보완이라는 이름으로 바꾸며 살아가고 있다.

내가 생각하는 이 블록체인 생태계는 나의 직업과 연관 지어 생각하건대, 지금의 미디어 매체의 흐름을 변화하고 포털의 집중된 현 상태를 많이 바꿀 것이라 기대한다. 저작권은 더욱 훌륭하게 보호될 것이며, 기자들은 어느 한 곳에 눈치 보지 않고 자신의 생각과 팩트를 더욱 사실적으로 쓸 수 있는 환경이 조성될 것이라 예상한다. 특히 미디어 상에서의 댓글 문화에도 방향성을 제시하며 지금보다 더 성숙한 문화를 만들어 갈 것이라 생각한다.

어쩌면 빠르게는 1년, 늦게는 3년 뒤의 나는 독일 어느 마을에 머물며 스팀잇에 글을 올리고 있을지도 모른다. 여행을 다니며 글을 쓰고 싶다는 꿈이, 어쩌면 꿈이 아니라 현실로 경험하고 있을지도. 내 꿈을 실현하고 있는 지금의 스티미언들이 있기 때문에 그 상상이 좌절과 불행이 아닌 행복하게 느껴지는 건 기분 탓은 아닐 테지.

그래서 오늘도 나는 스팀잇에 글을 올린다.

I feel like I was hit on the back of my head.
Is that what it was then?

Starting as soon as I open my eyes in the morning is the virtual currency exchange view set to be my favorites, checking the overseas exchange, and taking a look in the steemit.

Then, they start getting ready for work. The coin story continues in the company. Even during lunchtime, the eye and finger movements get busier as we share information with the employees, and check their information on transactions on their phones.

Virtual coin world already embedded in our lives. After knowing the fact that it is steam as well as virtual currency world, I spend a hectic day trying to understand the fun and principles of this place. From the time I get to bed after work, my fixed gaze on my cell phone won't change easily.

Maybe we already knew what's going on. I heard this story during an interview 3 years ago.

" We are working to integrate such world-class enterprises as Google, Facebook and YouTube. It's already invested, and it's said that the new developments are under way. Maybe it will cost you money in the future. A world where individuals can make money themselves and become content will come soon. "

I was shocked when I heard the story, but I didn't understand it easily. Until then, BJ was just booming, and unlike now, there was not much concept that social networking services such as Facebook or Instagram earn money. It was very strange to hear that individuals were earning and ranking.(A unified platform, not an Africa TV concept)

That story I heard then was always abrupt with a question mark. What kind of image is unity? If you do come, I wonder when you would come. Why doesn't the world know when global businesses are moving? Every once in a while I asked people to think of that word. Can you imagine a world like that coming? Whenever I did so, I turned my mind once again, seeing people making strange faces.

But there is a platform in here that can not be explained with that word. Individuals become content, and this system is creating another culture. It becomes money. It becomes content. Of course, I still think it will take longer to understand this platform.

However, the steel-like platform will grow. No, it's already under way.

The block chain ecosystem may soon become a part of our lives. As folder phones began to make use of smart phones, we forget the days when the debate was hot at first, because they were so expensive and make a difference between users ' lives.

Being first time is scary or thrilling because you can't see anything in front of you. The present alarming voice may well be a natural phenomenon. However, we have tried and tried many times and have always lived by changing our worries to a complementary name.

I think this block chain ecosystem, in relation to my profession, is going to change the current flow of media and change significantly the current focus of portals. Copyright will be better protected, and journalists expect to have an environment where they can write their thoughts and facts more realistically without having to pay attention anywhere else. In particular, I think it will provide direction to the comment culture on the media and build a more mature culture.

Maybe in a town in Germany, maybe a year, three years later, I am writing on the stage. The dream of traveling and writing is probably not a dream but a reality. I don't think it's because I feel happy, not frustrated or unhappy, because I have my own people(steemian) who are living my dream.

So today I still write on the steemit.
