What is Kill The Pad Challenge?

Kill The Pad challenge is a bi-weekly topical text based rap competition for SBD. Why am I starting a text based rap initiative? We have many creative writers in the hip hop community. One doesn't have to get onto the mic to show their prowess with lyricism. This will benefit the less experienced and the more experienced alike. Topicals are always a good exercise. It's all about elevating together, learning from each other, and growing as an artist.

The turn out was amazing for the first week!! I was able to leave most of you guys a detailed review. Let's get on to the winners!

Very cool verse, very smooth. Great rhyme scheme. Although I did get distracted by the gifs and memes at first, when I pointed that out, he quickly changed his post to make it more streamlined. That's a true entertainer, professional, etc. Take the constructive criticism and do something with it, I like that a lot. Much love to @verbal-d for showing out for the competition and doing his thing!! The first ever #killthepad winner!! Wooot!

Possibly my favorite in the entire competition. Was only SLIGHTLY behind verbal in overall score. The reason why verbal got it his he did have a better rhyme scheme, however, man this verse goes in. The imagery is on point, I mean from the very beginning

Every time my alarm sounds i swear there's enemies at my door
I wake up in confusion like i've been drafted to go to war

Wake up ready to go to war when the alarm goes off? Paints a nice picture for you. It's raw emotion and I dig that 100%. Keep this stuff coming man, you fucking rock!

3rd place - 1 SBD + 10 points in the Steem Music League

This one had a nice rap scheme, and easy to follow structure. I could literally hear it being rapped as I was reading it, which is always a plus. Only reason he didn't get higher is because I know he can do better than this verse, lol.

Other stuff

While everyone has their own styles, and I understand that, part of challenges is trying to see what the judges are looking for and going with it. I would suggest that if you are truly interested in becoming a better lyricist when it comes to rap, read the winners entries every week. Go to the different entries from this week or past weeks, and look at my critiques. I give valuable tips and information out each week to different people, and that information might be different than what I gave you.
