after an unplanned break, I would like to present you a new post today. As announced in the previous jewelry contribution, this time there will be a image documented wedding between a heap of silver scrap and a probably extremely well traveled piece of a meteorite. The silver are mainly the remnants and filings of the previous project. That sounds like garbage. But it is not.

nach einer nicht eingeplanten Pause möchte ich Euch heute einen neuen Post präsentieren. Wie im vorherigen Schmuckbeitrag angekündigt gibt es diesmal die mit einigen Bildern untermalte Hochzeit zwischen einem Häufchen Silberschrott und einem vermutlich extrem weitgereisten Meteoritenstückchen. Das Silber sind hauptsächlich die Reste und Feilung des vorherigen Projektes. Das klingt recht nach Abfall. Ist es aber keineswegs.

If you work clean and separate the metals, you will not have any problems with brittle or porous material later on. The use of some tools leaves ferrous debris and in this case the crumbs of the iron-nickel meteorite were added. You should fish them out easily with a neodymium magnet. And preferably very thoroughly.

Wenn man sauber arbeitet und die Metalle trennt, hat man später keine Probleme mit brüchigem oder porösem Material. Die Benutzung von Feilen hinterlässt eisenhaltigen Abrieb und in diesem Fall kamen noch die Krümel des Eisen-Nickel Meteoriten dazu. Die fischt man mit einem Neodymmagneten heraus. Und zwar am besten sehr gründlich.

At the acquired in the 1990s meteorite piece, which is unfortunately a bit rusty but you can still recognize the so-called Widmanstaetten pattern. A proof that it is a real meteorite. By etching with acid on the polished cut surface of the meteorite, the various constituent metals, in this case iron and nickel are attacked and discolored to varying degrees. By heating on entering our atmosphere, the two metals separate and form crystals. These are made visible again with the chemical burn. I save myself the detailed explanation of this phenomenon and refer to a report on Wikipedia.

An dem in den 90ern erworbenen Meteoritenstück, das leider etwas angeroste ist kann man aber noch die sogenante Widmanstätten Struktur erkennen. Ein Beweis, das es sich um einen echten Meteoriten handelt. Durch ätzen mit Säure auf der polierten Schnittfläche des Meteoriten werden die verschieden Bestandsmetalle, in diesem Fall Eisen und Nickel unterschiedlich stark angegriffen und verfärbt. Durch die Erhitzung beim Eintritt in unsere Atmosphäre trennen sich die beiden Metalle voneinander und bilden Kristalle. Diese macht man mit der Verätzung wieder sichtbar. Ich erspar mir hier mal die genauere Erklärung dieser Erscheinung und verweise auf einen Bericht auf Wikipedia.

From the piece I have already consumed several times, as can be easily recognized. Real meteorite collectors might go into gasps now. Since I also got only a small piece of the quite large, found in Chile iron-nickel meteorites, it does not bother me to continue sharing the piece. Sharing by hand is very tedious and has consumed some saw blades.

Von dem Stück habe ich schon einige Male gezehrt, wie unschwer zu erkennen ist. Echte Meteoritensammler würden jetzt vielleicht in Schnappatmung übergehen. Da ich aber auch nur ein kleines Stück des wohl recht grossen, in Chile gefundenen Eisen-Nickel Meteoriten bekam, macht es mir nichts aus das Stück weiter zu teilen. Das Teilen von Hand ist sehr mühsam und hat einige Sägeblätter verbraucht.

Now the individual parts are prepared, and they all come out of this pot. If you find the work steps too fast and incomplete, I would like to refer you to the previous post. The link is at the end of the article. This time, I did not spend so much time taking shots of the wonderfully reflecting liquid silver so as not to repeat everything here on Steemit. Honestly, I overslept it. But I should have done that. So in retrospect, this is really one of the best moments in such a project. Of course, the moment when the jewelry does not have to go into the fire or the stone is stuck without being broken. But everyone knows these moments. Whether it's a cake that even tastes good or a concrete walkway, which remains free of footprints until it hardens. Done is done. Only we have not made it for today. So on .. The two ends of the ring rail are straightened with a hinge caliber. A very valuable and useful invention in my eyes.

Jetzt werden die einzelnen Teile vorbereitet und die kommen alle aus diesem Topf. Wem die Arbeitsschritte zu schnell und unvollständig erscheinen, den verweise ich gerne auf den vorherigen Post. Der Link befindet sich am Ende des Artikels. Ich habe mich diesmal nicht so sehr mit Aufnahmen des wundervoll spiegelnden flüssigen Silbers verausgabt um es hier auf Steemit nicht alles zu wiederholen. Aber hätte ich machen sollen. So im Nachhinein ist das wirklich einer der schönsten Momente bei so einem Projekt. Natürlich auch der Moment, wenn der Stein oder was auch immer fest sitzt und der Schmuck nicht mehr ins Feuer muss. Aber diese Momente kennt bestimmt jeder. Ob es ein Kuchen ist der dann sogar noch schmeckt oder ein Betonierter Gehweg, welcher am nächsten Morgen keine Hundetapsen vorweisen kann. Geschafft ist geschafft. Nur wir haben es für heut noch nicht geschafft. Also weiter.. Die beiden Enden der Ringschiene werden mit einem Scharnierkaliber begradigt. Eine sehr wertvolle und nützliche Erfindung in meinen Augen.

The ring band with its two end pieces gets just a little coarser scrub to even the surfaces. Then the three are already united by brazing. The next picture shows the removal of the soldering agents in acid.

Die Ringschiene mit ihren beiden Endstücken bekommt gerade ein etwas derberes Peeling um die Flächen zu ebenen. Daraufhin werden die drei schon mal durch Hartlöten vereint. Das nächste Bild zeigt das Entfernen der Löthilfsmittel in Säure.

The meteorite will later find its last rest for the next 1000 years (at least, lol) in a so-called stone setting. This is made from a settlement of a sheet metal strip.

Der Meteorit soll später in einer sogenannten Kastenfassung seine letzte Ruhe für die nächsten 1000 Jahre (mindestens, hehe) finden. Diese wird aus einer Abwicklung eines Blechstreifens hergestellt.

The sheet is sawn in and the cut is worked out with a square file in a 90 degree angle.

Das Blech wird eingesägt und der Schnitt mit einer Vierkantfeile im 90 Grad Winkel ausgearbeitet.

Since I've kept the version a little higher for safety's sake, some height has to be cut back. Honestly, a lot, but as already mentioned, waste does not exist. The severed piece is melted down later and certainly gets a new task.

Da ich die Fassung sicherheitshalber etwas höher gehalten hab, muss nun wieder etwas an Höhe gekürzt werden. Ehrlich gesagt etwas sehr viel, aber Abfall gibt es wie vorher schon erwähnt ja eben nicht. Das abgetrennte Stückchen wird später wieder eingeschmolzen und bekommt sicherlich mal eine neue Aufgabe.

Die Fassung und die Ringschiene mit den beiden Endstücken werden schon mal zusammengesteckt, um sich schon einen ersten Eindruck des fertigen Ringes zu genehmigen.

After minor adjustments, the two parts are finally finally fixed by brazing and then pass once again the acid bath.

Nach kleinen Anpassungen werden die beiden Teile nun auch endgültig durch Hartlöten befestigt und passieren anschliessend noch einmal das Säurebad.

The darker lines on the frame are the solder seams, which are plastered a bit and thus become invisible later.

Die dunkleren Linien an der Fassung sind die Lotnähte, welche noch etwas verputzt werden und somit später unsichtbar werden.

These were actually just the preparations for the planned festival. The desired wedding between earthly and extraterrestrial. Since the two are not so talkative, it does not take long and the thing is done.

Das waren jetzt eigentlich nur die Vorbereitungen zum geplanten Fest. Der gewünschten Hochzeit zwischen irdischem und ausserirdischem. Da die beiden nicht so sehr gesprächig sind, dauert es nicht lange und die Sache ist erledigt.

Muggi und Gaana haben in der Gruppe Börte lange Zeit in Deutsschland gespielt und gelebt. Und sie haben mir geholfen meine Jurte aufzustellen und einzuweihen :) Wie lange bist du denn schon in der Mongolei?
Ich bin jetzt fast fünf Jahre hier. Hier ist es zwar im Winter kalt aber ich fühle mich hier unheimlich frei. Eine Jurte haben wir auch. Die liegt allerdings im Keller und wartet auf den nächsten Sommer ;) Jurteneinweihung klingt nach einem lustigen Abend. Eine Jurte in Deutschland braucht doch auch ein kleines tuning wegen der höheren Luftfeuchte? Oder geht das bei Dir? Vielleicht klappts nächstes Jahr mal zum Golden Eagle Festival in den Altai zu fahren. .
In der Regenzeit habe ich eine Plastikplane über die empfindlichen Stellen gespannt, aber sonnst geht das ganz gut, ich habe sie schon 10 Jahre ständig aufgestellt. Mal ein neuer Filz und eine neue Abschlußhülle, das wars an Renovierungen.
Golden Eagle Festival klingt interessant! In der Repuplik Altai habe ich auch noch ein paar Einladungen offen :)
10 Jahre ist schon ganz schön lange für eine Jurte in Deutschland. Bei uns ist mal unten das Holz angegammelt. Aber egal, auf die nächsten 10 ;) Vielleicht klappts ja doch mal nächstes Jahr oder das darauf.
Ich habe schon einige angeschimmelte Jurten gesehen. Kann es sein, dass Du regelmäßig Feuer in der Jurte machst und dadurch keine Probleme mit Schimmel hast?
