How Do You Say 「実はね」 In English?

「実はね」は英語で何って言う？

Sometimes you just have to say something. But you don't want to be too blunt. If you just say it, it might sound rude. So you need to soften it a little.
_{口を出さなきゃ時もあるね。でもひどく素っ気なく言いたくない。そのまま言ったら失礼に聞こえてしまうかも知れない。だから和らげなくてはいけない。}

You might need to pass something along. Maybe a friend of yours has a problem, and you have to tell another friend about it so they don't upset him or her. You can introduce the problem with one of the phrases below.
_{時々伝えることがある。例えば自分の友達は問題があて、そしても一人の友達がその友達を怒らせないために伝えることになる。その問題を下記のフレーズで持ち出せる。}

Or, maybe you need to give an excuse. Being able to make excuses in English is important. Listeners want to hear the specific reason you can't do something. If you say one of these phrases first, it sounds like you're trying to be nice about it.
_{それか例えば言い訳をしたい。英語では言い訳ができることは大事です。聞き手はあなたができないことの具体的な理由が聞きたいです。最初にこの次のフレーズを言ったらそのことについて親切そうです。}

実はね〜１番：Actually...

_実はね〜

This is kind of the standard word for 実はね in English. It's common, useful, and easy.
_{これは「実はね」の一般的な英単語みたいです。よく使われているし、役に立つし、簡単です。}

Situation: Have to Leave

_{場合：行かなければならない}

A: You want to have one more?

_{もう一つ飲もう？}

B: Actually, I have to get going. Working tomorrow.

_{実はね、行かないとダメだ。明日仕事があるから。}

Situation: Refusing an Offer

_{場合：し出を断るとき}

A: Hey, we've got some extra tickets for Disneyland. Wanna go?

_{じゃ、ディズニーランドの余分のチケットを持っている。一緒に行きたい？}

B: Actually, I don't really like theme parks. But thanks anyway.

_{実はね、遊園地はあまり好きじゃない。でもありがとうね。}

_{問題はね〜}

This one is very common nowadays. We usually use it to tell someone there is a problem.
_{これは現在よく言われている。普通は相手に問題があるというために使います。}

Situation: Passing Something Along to Prevent Hurting Someone's Feelings

_{場合： 人の気持ちを害しないように情報を伝える}

A: I know you like her. But the thing is, she has a boyfriend.

_{彼女のことが好きだと分かっている。けど、本当はね、彼氏がいるよ。}

Situation: Giving A Reason Why Someone Should Do Something

_{場合： なぜした方がいいかという理由を言う}

A: I know you have a lot of other things to do, but the thing is, we have to get this done by tomorrow.

_{他のことですごく忙しいと分かっているけど、肝心なのはこれは明日までに終わらないとダメです。}

_{問題はね〜}

This one is the same as "The Thing Is." You can use either one in most situations.
_{これは「The Thing Is」と一緒だ。ほとんどの場合はどちでも使えます。}

Situation: Giving An Excuse

_{場合： 言い訳をする}

A: Here's the thing... I have to wake up early tomorrow for an interview, so I can't be up all night drinking, but I can have a couple.

_{実はね、明日面接に朝早く起きる、だから深夜まで飲んではダメだけど１か２杯飲める。}

A: I know I told you I'd give you a ride home, but here's the thing... something suddenly came up so I can't now.

_{家まで送ってあげるって言ったけど、本当はね急に用事ができたからできない。}

実はね〜４番：You Know What?

_{知っている？}

This one has other meanings besides 「実はね」. But when it's used in this sense, it's very similar to "Here's The Thing." But it often has the nuance that you just remembered what the problem is.
_{これは「実はね」以外の意味もあります。でもこの意味で使われるとき、「Here's The Thing」とよく似ている。でも、よくその問題を今思い出したのようなニュアンスです。}

Situation: Passing Something Along to Prevent Hurting Someone's Feelings

_{場合： 人の気持ちを害しないように情報を伝える}

A: You know what? Aaron's sensitive about not getting promoted. So try not to mention his job.

_{実はね。エーロンは昇進していないことを気にしているよ。だから仕事のことは話さないようにしてください。}

We use this when we're going to say something that really might hurt someone's feelings. Or, we use it to say something we feel ashamed to admit.
_{これは人の気持ちを害するかも知れないときに使います。それか認めるのは恥ずかしいと感じることを言うことに使います。}

Situation: Telling Someone Something That Might Upset Them

_{場合：人に気持ちを害する可能性のあることを言うとき}

A: Here's the thing, Todd. I'm just gonna be honest. Your breath stinks.

_{実はねトッド。失礼ですけど。あなたの息が臭い。}

We use this one a lot when we are a little surprised.

Situation: Surprised Your Friend Showed Up

A: I'm here!

_来たよ！

B: You made it! To tell yo the truth, I didn't think you were gonna show up.
