Cool means many things in many situations. It doesn't just mean kakkoi.

「Cool」はいろんな場合によっていろんな意味です。「かっこいい」という意味だけじゃない。

The way that cool has been used for a long time is when talking about a guy who is confident and / or who looks good or is stylish. But it seems like nowadays it isn't used this way as much as it used to be. I guess it's not cool anymore, hehe.

ずっと前から現在までは自身のあるかっこよくておしゃれな男の人のことに対して使われています。でも最近は前ほどそのように使われていなさそうです。たぶんその使い方はもうかっこよくないかな、（笑）。

But anyway, check out all the different other ways you can use it.

Situation: You see something cool

場合：何かかっこいい物を見かけた

A: Whoa. That's a cool car.

すごい。あれはかっこいい車だね。

Situation: You think something is creative, fun, or a good idea

場合：クリエイティブか楽しいかいいアイディアだと思う

A: Hey, let's put on tuxedos and go to the beach and act like secret agents.

あのね、タックシードを着てビーチに行って秘密諜報員のふりをしよう。

B: Sweet, I'm in. That's a cool idea.

いいね、しよう。それはいい考えだよ。

Situation: You think something is new, fresh, or different in a good way

場合：いい意味で新しい、斬新、いつもと違うと思う

A: Have you seen Memento?

メメントを見たことある？

B: Yeah. That was like the coolest movie ever.

そうだよ。それはこれまで最高の映画よね。

Situation: Saying yes or OK

場合：いいよかOKと言いたい

A: You want to meet at 6?

６時に会おうか？

B: OK, cool.

いいよ。

Situation: Asking if something is OK

場合：いいですかと聞くとき

Boyfriend: Hey, my ex-girlfriend is coming over to have dinner with us. Are you cool with that?

あのね、俺の前の彼女は一緒に晩御飯を食べに来る。いい？

Girlfriend: Yeah, that's cool. Are you cool with us breaking up?

いいよ。そして、別れていい？

Situation: Using "not cool" to mean you don't like something or think it's a bad thing to do.

場合：「いやだ」、「いけない」という意味で「not cool」を使うとき

A: Don't drive so fast, man. That's not cool.

そんな早く運転しないで。いけないよ。

B: I drive how I want to man. If you don't like it, get out of the car.

俺は好きなように運転するよ。いけないと思ったら車を降りてください。

Situation: You think someone is friendly or easy to get along with

場合：誰かが友好的か気さくな人だと思うとき

A: Do you know him?

彼知っている？

B: Yeah, he's a cool guy.

うん。いい人だよ。

A: How about her?

あの女の子は？

A: Yeah, she's a cool chick.

うん、いい（女の）人だよ。

Situation: One friend talking to another friend after they had a fight

場合：二人の友達が喧嘩してから話しているとき

A: Hey, are we cool now?

じゃ、私たちはもう中治った？

B: Yeah, we're cool man. It was just a little misunderstanding, right?

うん、大丈夫だよ。ただの勘違いだね？

Situation: You want someone to stay calm

場合：誰かに平気、落ち着いてほしいとき

A: Hey, what are you doing here? I told you I don't want to see you.

え？なんでここにいるの？もう会いたくないって。

B: OK, just be cool man, I just came to get my bag.

じゃ、平気、ただカバンを取りに来ている。
