Top 3 Crimes against Humanity Suffered by the Japanese (Notes from Under the Tatami Mats–24 … My Adventures in Japan)

“You can never know the horror unleashed at that moment ....”

The attack on Pearl Harbor was horrible.

But it turned out to be relatively minor compared to the horrendous bombings of Tokyo, Hiroshima, and Nagasaki.

When I visited the Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, I read something very interesting; it said that majority of the Hiroshima survivors (who are still alive) don't really blame the US and are not angry about the attack.

The museum is very heart-breaking to visit, and the entire city is still trying to heal apparently, but you can still realize the impact of the event, especially in the architecture of the city.

I would love to visit Nagazaki, I know that the impact of the atomic bomb was much more severe there.

I visited the museums in both Hiroshima and Nagasaki, and they are both very sobering experiences. It's quite shocking to see what horrors man can inflict on other men.

Nagasaki is nestled in a mountain valley. Therefore, the impact of the bomb did not spread as far and wide as it did in Hiroshima. But, on the other hand, the impact within the narrow valley of Nagasaki was much more intense.

And the observation about the victims not blaming the US is thought-provoking. I believe such a forgiving attitude is essential for mankind. Don't forget, but forgive.

In fact, many of the the Vietnamese also have forgiven the US for the bombing and shooting rampage that they suffered at the hands of the Americans. (I'm not even sure that I would forgive .... :-( )

Cheers, and Peace.

yes, Japan has passed through a very critical time in 1945, Their people died due to the bomb attack, but still, they have managed to make their name in technology.

Such a gory story, this is. Those attacks are inhuman and deadly. Humanity needs peace not war. We need to build not to destroy. I hope that we have learnt enough lessons and would avert future wars.

PS: You skipped upvoting the post re quote challenge.

Mankind is still learning, or still trying to learn.

Re the missed upvote, another friend had the same issue. Apparently, SteemDunk was down for a time. All seems OK now, but please alert me if and when it happens again.

Sure mankind has a long, long way to go. Let's be hopeful that the globalization of the world and the MAD doctrine will prevent further wars.

PS: I will always do that. Got the loaf and will keep my words. Thanks.

Had the Japanese not been interested in Philippines, none of this would have happened in the first place!! The Pearl harbor attack happened because the Japanese wanted to negate a counter attack from the American forces had they invaded the Philippines island.

There was really no need to do this, and the Japanese dug their own grave. However they would not have expected a catastrophe of the size of the nuclear bombing Hiroshima and Nagasaki. The people who had to suffer because of this rather ignorant Japanese military decision , were the common people of Japan,,who really had nothing to do with the war.

I wonder when Peace will prevail in this world and when humans will stop being greedy. The Japanese should known, very action will have an opposite reaction. I really ponder why did they even try to go against the mighty forces of America.

Good points. Let peace prevail, now and forever!

One cant imagine what this people went through Oo

Atomic war is not a good war. Atomic bomb can destroy the whole humnity in a few minut. A person who is resposible for atomic war he is killed but what about those peoples who are innocent are killed in atomic war. So is completely illegal kill of humanity without any cause.
Thank you.

I agree. But unfortunately, the proliferation of nuclear weapons means that millions of people can now be killed with one bomb.

Our leaders are clearly insane.
