The Streets of Takayama 【Beautiful Japan #17】

A bit crowded, eh?

Takayama is a wonderful city. Part of its charm is several blocks that preserve the traditional Edo-style buildings and streets. Most of the buildings here are shops selling souviners, but you will also find food shops, and others including sake shops (with free samples!).

Unfortunately it is becoming more popular every year, so it is a little crowded there. Actually there aren't too many people in this photo. Go at the wrong time and the streets are packed so full getting through can be a bit of a challenge.
