Alcune settimane fa avevo proposto un post in cui celebravo Russell Westbrook per le cifre con le quali era riuscito a chiudere la stagione regolare passata e presente. Il tutto ponendo alla fine un interrogativo:
nel caso di Westbrook potremmo parlare di Supereroe???
Gli Avengers e tutti i loro fan si saranno schifiti nel leggere quel mio articolo, ma onestamente ciò che ha fatto l'All-Star di OKCè veramente qualcosa di inimmaginabile.
La resa dei conti però c'è stata nel primo round di play-off, quando i Thunder sono stati battuti dai Jazz ed il Superero Westbrook è tornato sulla Terra da umano quale realmente è: 82 tiri tra gara 5 e gara 6 sono veramente troppi per chiunque.
Ma c'è un altro giocatore, forse IL GIOCATORE dell'anno: questa è la stagione in cui LeBron James sta consacrando il suo status di mostro del basket e si sta chiaramente prodigando nel detronizzare sua Santità MJ.

But there's another player, maybe THE PLAYER of the year: this is the season where LeBron James is consecrating his monster status of basketball athlete and he is clearly trying to dethrone His Holiness MJ .

Vi rimando ad un altro mio vecchio post in cui sottolineo i vari motivi per cui LBJ dovrebbe vincere il titolo di MVP e tutte le sue cifre.
Ad essere onesti però James non ha avuto insieme ai Cavs una buona prima parte di campionato: prima l'infortunio di Isaiah Thomas ha condizionato non poco il reparto di regia, poi il malumore nello spogliatoio con Kevin Love accusato di essere troppo soft, poi le grandi trade di metà campionato ed il conseguente tempo necessario perché la squadra trovasse il giusto equilibrio. Il risultato è stato un mediocre 50-22 con il quale hanno chiuso al quarto posto nella Eastern Conference.
Possiamo quindi dire che i play-off per LBJ&Co. non sono certo iniziati in discesa. Nei quarti contro Indiana si sono visti tutti i problemi di organico della squadra di The Land: la difesa ha spesso fatto acqua, soprattutto nella parte centrale della serie, la poca grinta di alcuni giocatori e l'incapacità di fermare giocatori come Oladipo e Bogdanovic. I Cavs non casulamente sono andati subito sotto 0-1 perdendo a Cleveland, segnando solo 80 punti. LeBron ha poi dimostrato di essere veramente il Re: ha vinto gara 5 con una stoppata decisiva e la tripla della vittoria e, pur chiudendo la serie alla settima gara, ha avuto delle medie eroiche nelle partite vinte dai Cavs (41.8 punti, 10.8 rimbalzi, 6.8assist). In certi momenti è sembrato che James fosse lui stesso Cleveland.

The result was a mediocre 50-22 with which they finished fourth in the Eastern Conference.
Therefore we can tell that the play-offs for LBJ & Co. certainly did not have an easy start. In the quarters against Indiana we have see all the staffing problems of The Land's team : the defense has often had issues, especially in the central part of the series, the lack of determination of some players and the inability to stop players like Oladipo and Bogdanovic. The Cavs not casually went immediately under 0-1 losing in Cleveland, scoring only 80 points. LeBron then proved to be really the King : he won game 5 with a decisive block and with the victorius three and, even closing the series in the seven games, he had heroic averages in the games won by the Cavs (41.8 points, 10.8 rebounds, 6.8assist). In that moment it seemed that James was himself Cleveland.

Anche la sfida nelle semifinali la sfida era molto dura per Cleveland, dato che incontravano i Toronto Raptors, primi ad est alla fine della stagione regolare e freschi di un 4-1 ai danni dei Widzars.

I Cavs portano a casa la serie e si sbarazzano di un'inconsistente squadra canadese. Toronto ha perso malamente la prima gara, dopo di che ha perso completamente la propria fiducia. L'unico tentativo di ripresa è stato gara 3, ma anche questa volta LeBron ha fatto un qualcosa di umanamente improbabile. Per chi non l'avesse cisto lascio qui sotto il riassunto della gara.

Caso ha voluto che oggi stessi scrivendo un articolo sul Prescelto!
Ho cancellato tutto e mi sono goduto questo post su quello che reputo da anni il miglior giocatore dell'intera storia del basket con buona pace di MJ.

Spero che venga apprezzato anche da altri utenti, visto l'impegno che ha richiesto e soprattutto visto che ti ho soffiato l'idea!!!
Non seguo più l'NBA come una volta, ma mi è capitato pochi giorni fa di assistere per caso ad uno spezzone di 4th quarter di Toronto-Cleveland... Credo fosse gara tre o quattro, lo schema era rimessa, palla a Lebron, palleggio per tutto il campo, attesa di 20 secondi, passo d'incrocio, finta tiro e canestro.
Persino mio figlio di 8 anni mi ha detto: "papà, ma quello quanto è forte?"
