NBA PLAYOFFS
(ITA) Oggi cercheremo di fare il punto della situazione sui play-off NBA. Sono appena finiti i quarti e le semifinali di Conference sono appena iniziate (2 partite giocate). Faremo quindi un passo indietro ed in seguito guarderemo avanti per capire meglio quali potrebbero essere gli eventi futuri.
(ENG) Today I will try to make an analysis on the NBA play-offs. The quarter-finals have just finished and the Conference semi-finals have just begun (2 games played). So I will write about flashbacks and I will take a look forward to better understand what future events could be.

EAST FLASHBACK
Toronto - Washington(4-2)
Questa serie vedeva fronteggiarsi la numero 1 della costa est contro la numero 8. Toronto negli ultimi anni si era sempre presentata bene alla seconda fase della stagione, ma non ha mai impressionato. Quest'anno i canadesi hanno invece ribaltato i tanti dubbi su di loro e forse l'annata altalenante degli Widzars (infortunio di John Wall) ha facilitato il loro compito. I Raptors si sono quindi portati a casa la serie in sei gare e stanno iniziando a pensare che quest'anno sia la stagione buona per esplodere. Per i giocatori della capitale si chiude così un'annata in cui non sono riusciti a trovare mai la chimica giusta, con e senza il loro leader.
Cleveland - Indiana(4-3)
Ancora una volta, dopo i playoff del 2014, LeBron si ritrova a giocare contro gli Indiana Pacers: 4 anni fa vestiva la maglia dei Miami Heat. La battaglia è stata lo stesso dura: i Cavs arrivavano da un regular season piuttosto macchinosa, caratterizzata da alti e bassi, se si esclude il talento cristallino del Re. La storia non è cambiata nella post-season e LeBron ha continuato a fare il bello ed il cattivo tempo (vedere gara5). Indiana di contro ha saputo approfittare dei momenti di cedimento degli avversari e con un Oladipo con i fiocchi ha portato la serie alla settima gara, senza però riuscirla a spuntare in Ontario.
Boston - Milwakee(4-3)
Ancora una serie arrivata alla settima gara ed ancora tanto spettacolo in campo. I Celtici hanno avuto una stagione travagliata dagli infortuni (prima Hayrward e dopo Irving) ed arrivavano ai quarti con la consapevolezza di essere la squadra con meno talento. Di contro infatti avevano una squadra molto giovane ed allo stesso tempo fisica e talentuosa come i Bucks. A fare la differenza alla fine, probabilmente è stato il fatto di avere le idee più chiare per la formazione guidata da Brad Stevens: ha saputo portare al massimo le qualità di giocatori normali come lo stesso Rozier; ma probabilmente il vantaggio maggiore è stato rappresentato dal fatto di essere riusciti a bloccare l'attacco magistrale dei Bucks, uno dei migliori nella lega. Alla fine avanza al turno successivo la formazione che su 7 gare ha saputo dimostrare maggiormente il proprio lavoro di sistema.
Philadelphia - Miami(4-1)
Sicuramente la serie più dura dal punto di vista fisico: gli esuberanti 76ers arrivavano da un'ottimo finale di stagione ed hanno seputo tenere testa agli Heat, più esperti, ma sembrati per lunghi tratti le vittime sacrificali. Giocatore sempre più chiave nelle rotazioni di Phila è Ben Simmons che ha saputo dimostrare carattere e carisma anche sotto canestro. I quarti di finale si sono dimostrati per la squadra della città dell'amore fraterno un trampolino di lancio per le semifinali.

This year the Canadians have reversed the many doubts about them and perhaps the unclear Widzars season (John Wall injury) has facilitated their task. Then the Raptors win the series in six games and they are starting to think that this year is the right season to explode. Capital players close a year in which they could never find the right chemistry, with and without their leader.

Once again, after the 2014 playoffs, LeBron finds the Indiana Pacers : 4 years ago he was wearing the Miami Heat shirt. The battle was the same tough: the Cavs came from a rather cumbersome regular season, it comes from ups and downs, if we exclude the crystalline talent of the King . The story has not changed in the post-season and LeBron has continued to make good things and he does not stop himself (see race 5). On the other hand Indiana was able to take advantage of the moments of failure of opponents and a great Oladipo led the series to the seventh game, but they failed in "The Land".

Another series arrived at the seventh race and even here the funs watch a great show on the field. The Celts have had a season troubled by injuries (first Hayrward and after Irving ) and they have reached the quarter with the awareness of being the team with less talent. In fact their opponents were a very young team at the same time, both physically and talented like the Bucks. The best thing that makes the difference at the end, probably, it was the fact of having the clearest ideas: Brad Stevens has been able to maximize the quality of normal players like Rozier ; but probably the advantage was stopping the Bucks offensive power, one of the best in the league. At the end, the 7 races has been able to demonstrate that Boston were the best and they deserve to advance.
Philadelphia - Miami (4-1) Surely the hardest series on a physical point of view: the exuberant 76ers came from an excellent end of the season and they left to stand up to the Heat, more experienced, even if they have seemed for long stretches sacrificial victims. An increasingly key player in Phila's turnings is Ben Simmons who has been able to show charisma and power even under the basket. The quarterfinals proved to be a springboard for the semifinals for the city of fraternal love team.

WEST FLASHBACK
Houston - Minnesota(4-1)
Il finale di stagione è stato vissuto in due modi completamente diversi dalle due squadre: i texani erano ormai sicuri della loro prima posizione ed hanno preso le ultime gare come momento di relax prima della fase finale. I Timberwolves invece si sono ritrovati a spingere forte fino in fondo e conquistare i play-off solo all'ultima gara (complici anche l'infortunio di Butler che ha rallentato un po' la squadra). Nei quarti questa disparità si è fatta sentire: Harden e compagni hanno chiuso la serie in appena 5 gare, dimostrando una netta superiorità.
Portland - New Orleans(4-3)
La più grande delle sorprese dei quarti di finale. New Orleans distrugge Portland e tutte le loro grandi speranze di terza classificata nella regular season. Dopo l'infortunio di DeMarcus Cusins tutto poteva sembrare ormai finito, ed invece la squadra, guidata dal giocatore più in forma del momento (Anthony Davis) ha saputo trovare la forza giusta per chiudere la serie nel minor numero di gare necessario. Dall'altra parte Portland non ha trovato opzioni dalla panchina più lunga.
Golden State - San Antonio (4-1)
Probabilmente la serie più scontata ad ovest. Gli Spurs sono al centro del più grande punto interrogativo della lega: Kawhi Leonard. Senza questo giocatore sono una squadra mediocre, come si sono dimostrati durante la serie con i Warriors. Solo per brevi tratti gli Spurs hanno avuto il controllo del gioco. A tutto questo c'è da aggiungerci il lutto occorso in casa Popovich, che ha sicuramente destabilizzato la squadra texana. Questa serie non ha neppure dato tanti spunti per Golden State, che ha sfruttato il momento per recuperare al meglio Stephen Curry.
Oklahoma City - Utah (4-3)
Personalmente non valuto questa serie come una sorpresa, ma più come una conferma. I Thunder hanno dimostrato l'essere poco squadra ed i fallimenti riguardanti George (meno) ed Anthony (più). Questi due giocatori non hanno portato nulla alla squadra dell'Oklahoma. L'unico l'eroico Westbrook che è riuscito a condurre una magistrale rimonta in gara 6. Gli Utah molto più squadra, guidati da un Mitchell tutt'altro che rookie (leader) ed alcuni europei, hanno conquistato un grande risultato ed ora arrivano affamati di vittorie alle semifinali.

The Timberwolves instead had to push hardand win last games to advance to play-offs (also because they played without Butler ). In the quarters this disparity was clear: Harden and teammates closed the series in just 5 races, showing a clear superiority.

This series has not even given so many ideas for Golden State, which has taken advantage oto recover Stephen Curry .

Sarà molto bello vedere come i coach leggeranno le gare: Adams ha già vinto gara 1 con una grande prestazione offensiva dei suoi giocatori, ma con la consapevolezza che il fronte offensivo non sia il loro punto forte. Dall'altra parte Philadelphia dovrà tirare fuori quel carattere visto nei quarti e non soccombere sotto l'organizzazione dei bianco-versi. Embiid dovrà dominare maggiormente sotto canestro e schiacciare la difesa dei Celtics verso il canestro per liberare i tiratori eterni. Questa sarà una serie che molto probabilmente arriverà a 6-7 gare, anche se gara 2 ha dimostrato tutta la poca esperienza dei 76ers ed un'ottima mentalità di Boston.

Pochi dubbi ad oggi su chi sia il miglior giocatore di quest'anno (personalmente): riesce a trascinare la squadra gara dopo gara. E' comunque vero che in gara 1 spesso Toronto ha avuto il controllo ed i tanti errori sul finale hanno permesso ai Cavs di portare la gara al supplementare (non in gara 2!). La serie sembra molto equilibrata, anche se siamo sullo 0-2, ma se i Raptors riescono a trovare una soluzione al Re la serie è finita.

It will be very nice to watch how the coaches will read the games: Adams has already won race 1 with a great offensive performance of his players, but with the knowledge that the offensive front is not their strong point. On the other hand, Philadelphia will have to pull out that charisma and skills seen in the quarters and not succumb under the organization of Boston. Embiid will have to dominate more in the paint and push the Celtics' defense towards the basket to get free the shooters. This will be a series that I think will arrive at 6-7 games, even if game 2 has reported 76ers' little experience and a Boston's excellent concentration.

Utah ha dimostrato di poter proporre un gioco di gruppo di alta qualità, molto simile a quello espresso dai Rockets. Tanti tiratori ed il probabile miglior difensore dell'anno Gobert. Hanno già ribaltato il vantaggio del campo pareggiando la serie a Houston. Utah è comunque consapevole che la serie sarà ancora lunga e dopo le 7 gare dei quarti la fatica inizierà a farsi sentire. La squadra di D'Antoni dovrà andare oltre i soliti isolamenti per mettere in crisi la robusta difesa dei Jazz.

Probabilmente questa è la serie finale con meno dobbi. Forse Golden State cederà una gara a New Orleans, ma non di più. La squadra dei Pelicans ha riposato molto, ma la panchina più corta si farà certamente sentire. Inoltre gli Warriors hanno riunito nel gruppo Curry che già nelle prime gare ha dimostrato di essere tornato in ottima forma. Davis si troverà di fronte difensori di qualità come Green e McGee e la battaglia per lui non sarà facile.

Utah has shown that it can offer a high quality teamwork, very similar to the one expressed by the Rockets. Many shooters and the probable best defender of the year Gobert . They have already reversed the advantage of the field by tying the series in Houston. Utah is however aware that the series will be long and after 7 games of the quarters the fatigue will begin to be felt.
D'Antoni's team will have to go beyond the usual isolation to undermine the robust defense of the Jazz.
