Ieri ho proposto un post in cui elogiavo i migliori tra squadre e giocatori alla fine della stagione NBA. Vi consiglio di andare a leggerlo e magari lasciare un commento finale.
Nel post di oggi andremo invece a parlare di quelle che sono state le delusioni ed i bocciati di quest'anno. Parleremo soprattutto di squadra e non tanto di singoli. Spero vi piaccia e magari lasciate un commento anche qua sotto, esprimendo la vostra opinione.

5.Philadelphia 76ers
Ho assegnato la quinta posizione alla squadra di Philadelphia. Molti lettori potranno essere in disaccordo con la mia scelta e soprattutto per il fatto che una squadra così giovane e talentuosa, alla prima esperienza ai play-off quest'anno possa essere addirittura tra i flop.
La squadra è giustamente giovane e talentuosa, ma nella post-season ha mostrato un calo troppo grande, se si esclude la prima serie contro i Miami Heat che quest'anno non erano niente di grandioso. Il finale di stagione aveva illuso i tifosi di Philadelphia che questa stagione potesse essere effettivamente la vera consacrazione di un gruppo promettente. Invece la serie con Boston è stata ridicola per i 76ers (1-4 con il vantaggio del campo). Non hanno mostrato quel carattere che ci si aspettava da una squadra come questa. E' anche vero che molti giocatori sono rookie o sophomore, ma le ambizioni erano altre. Secondo me Embiid è il giocatore che ha deluso maggiormente, sparendo totalmente di fornte ad Howford e Morris.
Trust the process continua ad essere il motto della franchigia, ma per i tifosi sarà difficile superare una batosta simile.

I assigned the fifth position to Philadelphia . Many readers will be in disagreement with my choice and in particoular because that team is so young and talented at the first experience in the playoffs this year. In my opinion they were a flop and I will describe why.
The team is justifiably young and talented, but in the post-season it showed a too big drop, excluding the first series against the Miami Heat (Florida team were not anything great this year). The end of season had deluded Philadelphia fans that this season could indeed be the real consecration of a beautiful group. Instead the series with Boston was ridiculous for the 76ers (1-4 with the advantage of the home games). They did not show that character that was expected from a team like this. 4.San Antonio Spurs
Premetto di essere un grande tifoso dei san Antonio Spurs. Dopo le splendide stagioni passate quest'anno mi sono sentito parzialmente deluso da come sia andata la stagione.
Quest'anno gli Spurs mi sono sembrati una squadra mal organizzata e con poco talento. Giocatori troppo anziani che non rsono riusciti ad aiutare i compagni più giovani (Murray): Gasol, Parker sono sicuramente risultati sotto le aspettative. Per Ginobili un discorso a parte, poiché come un guerriero è sceso anche la scorsa stagione in campo dando molto spesso il suo contributo.
Secondo me Aldridge non può essere un giocatore All-star, su cui puntare una stagione intera. Ha grandi qualità, ma di fronte a squadre difensivamente organizzate (Boston e GS) ha dimostrato spesso grande difficoltà.
Infine il problema più grande di San Antonio: Kawhi Leonard il giocatore più completo nella NBA fino alla scorsa stagione. I motivi sono ancora nell'ombra, ma il risultato è che non si vede una luce in fondo al tunnel. Le rumors in merito sono moltissime, ma senza questo giocatore o comunque qualcuno che lo possa sostituire gli Spurs sono caduti spesso in regular season.

Expert players that they could not help the younger teammates ( Murray ): Gasol, Parker were definitely below expectations. For Ginobili a separate discussion, because as a warrior he also fell last season in the field giving very often his support.
In my opinion Aldridge can not be an All-Star player, on which to bet an entire season. It has great qualities, but he has often shown great difficulty against defensive teams (Boston and GS).

3.Toronto Raptors
Ancora una squadra che comunque ha ottenuto buoni risultati in questa classifica: i Toronto Raptors hanno disputato una grandiosa prima parte di stagione, arrivando primi ad est.
Nella post-season hanno comunque faticato troppo ed anche quest'anno di sono dimostrati una squadra con poca esperienza e poca grinta. Nel primo turno hanno battuto una squadra di medio-basso livello come i Washington Widzars in sei gare ed in semifinale sono stati sconfitti dai Cavs in 4 gare. La prima partita è stata piuttosto confusa e gli stessi Raptors sono i colpevoli della sconfitta.
Secondo me Toronto è una squadra con ottimi talenti (Lowry, DeRozen e Valanciunas), ma ha bisogno di elementi di qualità con esperienza, giocatori che sappiano cosa fare nei momenti decisivi. LeBron contro i Raptors ha sempre fatto ciò che voleva, senza che riuscissero a trovare un modo per arginarlo.
Vedremo se la prossima stagione si muoveranno sul mercato per cercare qualche giocatore chiave.

2.Tyronn Lue
Non dedico molto spazio a Tyronn Lue, l'allenatore dei Cleveland Cavaliers.
Lo considero un allenatore non all'altezza di guidare una squadra da titolo, come i Cavs pretendono di essere. Nei suoi giochi non mostra nessuno spunto tecnico e spesso commette errori molto banali: l'ultimo, forse il più eclatante è stato quello in gara 1 di Finale. Con ancora un time-out a disposizione ha lasciato scadere il tempo. Questo fatto è molto grave se si pensa alle partite vinte da Cleveland grazie ad un canestro allo scadere in seguito ad un time-out.
Parte della colpa è anche del leader di Cleveland, LeBron James il quale ha sempre preferito avere allenatore non carismatici e su cui potesse prevalere a livello di leadership.

Molto probabilmente la prima posizione tra i peggiori Flop della stagione 2017-2018 è molto scontata e vince questo (non ambito) premio la squadra degli Oklahoma City Thunder e lo riesce a fare anche distanziando moltissimo gli avversari.
Chi non segue la NBA molto probabilmente vedrebbe nei Thunder una squadra che ha raggiunto la quarta posizione an Ovest in regular season, riuscendo così ad arrivare ai play-off. Le note dolenti però sono altre:
prima di tutto sono stati sconfitti dagli Utah Jazz, un'ottima squadra, ma pur sempre composta da giocatori giovani e poco esperti, in appena 6 gare.
I thunder erano una squadra costruita per vincere o comunque per far molto bene nei plaoff. Il risultato è stato un vero flop. In estate gli acquisti di Carmelo Anthony e Paul George avevano fatto sognare i tifosi. Questi due giocatori non si sono mai saputi amalgamare insieme, in particolare Anthony, il quale è sembrato sparire ad OKC. George si può sentire per metà soddisfatto avendo fatto per molte gare il suo dovere.

Così come è importante elogiare dove ci sono i reali meriti, è anche giusto, senza ombra di dubbio, evidenziare anche dove ci sono state delle eventuali mancanze ed insuccessi, come hai fatto in maniera eccellente tu, caro @moncia90
Perdere non è sinonimo di flop: si veda il post di ieri dove secondo me il migliore in assoluto è stato un giocatore di 33 anni che da solo ha portato la sua squadra in finale, pur perdendola.
Onestamente ho trovato maggiori difficoltà nello scovare i flop, anche se comunque la scelta era circoscritta a pochi altri elementi.

Stavolta ci scorniamo.
Non sono daccordo con la 5-4-3 per niente.
Philly è stata travolgente, è andata oltre ogni aspettativa e tanto basta.
Potevano fare di più e cavalcare l'onda? Certo ma davanti avevano delle rocce come i Celtics e ci sono andati non lontani.
Mancata esperienza ma quella non la compri al mercato.
Spurs.
Arrivare ai PO ad ovest senza la tua stella e senza stelle in squadra?! Solo Pop può riuscirci.
Anche qui tanto basta anche se l'affare Leonard è stato gestito malissimo.
Toronto si è dissolta ma una squadra dove i giocatori top non vogliono andarci causa scarso appeal riesce a vincere la conference, superarsi in tutti i record statistici di franchigia e arrivare in semifinale e perdere contro il miglior lebron di sempre merita applausi a prescindere.
Westbrook è diventato una barzelletta. Gioca per le statistiche ed ha umiliato i suoi 2 commilitoni Melo e PG.
Coach Lue non è un coach.
Avrei inserito i Bucks forse, Portland e memphis ma anche charlotte e washington con Wall, Jason Kidd in grande difficoltà
Con FLOP si intende solitamente chi ha grandi aspettative e poi fallisce: nominare in questa classifica una squadra come Charlotte o Washington sarebbe come sparare sulla Croce Rossa.
San Antonio ha una gestione di squadra e societaria tale che quest'anno è stato un fallimento. Grave. Non riuscire a sbloccare la sitazione Leonard è una grave carenza, con la quale la dirigenza degli Spurs non poteva/ doveva scontrarsi. Non è un giocatore infortunato, ma un giocatore che ingessa la società più vincente degli ultimi anni insieme a GS. Si consideri bene che sono un tifoso dei texani e per me Leonard è uno dei giocatori più completi di sempre.
La questione Toronto la risolvo con un semplice e classico paragone: hai riempito il secchio del late e poi con un calcio lo hai fatto cadere. Alla fine sono i risultati a fine stagione, non le chiacchere, a cidere se una stagione è stata un successo o, appunto, un flop. Le Bron è Le Bron, ma se pretendi di vincere il titolo non puoi uscire ai quarti di finale senza metterci mai mano nella serie con Cleveland. Come un ghiacciolo al sole.
Philadelphia: Trust the Process. Leggasi come sopra. Se vuoi vincere l'anello non puoi fermarti alle semifinali di conference ed essere battuti da una squadra, ben organizzata, ma di raccattati come Boston nei play-off. Non ci dimentichiamo che ieri ho messo Stevens tra i migliori della stagio 17-18 ed il vero MVP a Boston. Il flop sono loro: chi si da tante arie e poi quando si trova faccia a faccia con i grandi sparisce. Questa è la storia di Embiid. Il centro più domaninate della lega che si scioglie al sole. Il secondo in questo commento.
Articolo davvero piacevolissimo, da giocatore di basket e appassionato di NBA lo ritengo di gran spessore. Porta delle idee e considerazioni per niente banali e interessanti. Non pienamente d'accordo sul parere di Phila (sì sono un po' di parte), ma anche tu hai le tue buone motivazioni a sostegno delle tue tesi. Complimenti, aspetto altri articoli!
Come ho già spiegato in un commento sopra: la volontà di inserire Philadelphia, un po' come Toronto, è frutto di una delusione. Un flop. Sono una squadra di giovani, ok!
Ma dato l'andamento dell'ultima fase di regular season e l'inizio play-off mi sarei aspettato molto di più. Soprattutto perché vantano di portare avanti un The Rrocess che il prossimo anno sarà messo di fronte al vero banco di prova, per determinare se si tratti di fallimento o di successo.
E con il trasferimento ad Ovest di Le Bron, ora come ora, tutto è possibile!
