Don't give anybody an automatic slot in your life. Friendships, Unions, Relationships, Associations and Communication should be reviewed time from time.
People actually spend more resources to starting relationships rather than maintaining them. When they are now with you, they tend to neglect the very ingredients that brought you both together.
Never also promote anybody to any level of Relationship, without evaluating how well the person got commitment in the previous level. Wisdom demands that before someone is promoted, a report assessment is formulated and properly considered.
