Steemfest Fork Update: It's Still Happening and We're on Steemit!
When we decided to fork Anarchapulco we decided to fork Steemfest at the same time. By that point it had been announced that Steemfest would once again be in Europe making it hard for many people, including myself to go.
We were also motivated by the fact that during the Anarchapulco conference last year there were at least 50 Steemit users in town(not to mention those that already live here), probably closer to 70, yet there was no emphasis on it during the conference. I ran into many people that I recognized (by name) and who recognized me yet there wasn’t even a meetup!
When @erikaharris posted her call for a Steem event we were literally in the editing stages of our announcement to fork.
Since then months have passed but we are here to announce that we’re still doing the Steemfest Fork as part of Anarchaforko. One of the three days of the main event (dates to be announced soon, we are waiting to finalize), we have set aside to dedicate totally to a meeting of the Steemians. Since the fork extends on for a whole month we expect there to be Steemit meetups throughout the fork for those dedicated enough to stick around.
We’re forking not only the location but the concept as well. We’re removing labels like speaker and attendee leaving only participants. In the spirit of Anarchaforko, we’re returning control to the attendee so each participant can get what they want out of the experience. Participants are free to plan their own events or sell their products.
We offer a different and honestly cheaper option in a place that naturally has a lot of freedom to it. The beautiful weather and low cost make it a perfect option for a massive Steemit meetup. This is meant for those who couldn’t make it to Steemfest and for those who could, but crave another chance to see their friends.
