ALSO, EXTRA STRONG.

I finally grew the balls (or ovaries?) to give Steemit a try, so tada! Shoutout, to my friends @louielowa and @venicethemenace who grew them faster than I did, naa nako diri!

Hello, Steemians! My name is Chaya. In Hebrew, it means life. In Japanese, a resting place. Really though, it’s just my ma and pa’s names combined. Around high school, my friends started calling me a new nickname, Saiya. But now it kind of developed into someone both separate and connected from my being at the same time - kind of like an alter ego. Hence, @saiyanide, a portmanteau of Saiya and cyanide. But the good kind. Perhaps, something essential to create.

About the HeARTist

Neptune's Daughter

I am a bachelor’s degree holder of Fisheries and a licensed Fisheries Technologist (yes, we do have a board examination for that!). A lot of people would often wonder what Fisheries is and why it has to be studied. Although it’s complex, my usual answer is ocean awareness, resource management, sustainable development, and most importantly, food for the people. I am running two years into Fisheries research and venting out stress through art (painting and graphic art), the cause being constant. I guess The Script could be wrong because I was able to find faith and hope down the telescope (or should I say the microscope?). Currently, I am taking up my Master’s Degree in Genetics, learning things down to the molecular level all for the love of what comprises at least 70% of the earth.

Film Shooter

I shoot film. Two years ago I bought an old and used Minolta SRT 101, a 35-mm manual focus SLR camera that first came to life in 1966, and started taking pictures with expired rolls of Fujifilm YKL 100. Nowadays in the Philippines, it’s quite a challenge to be able to maintain such a hobby since film rolls and developing centers have become rather rare to find and processing costs have become rather expensive, unlike in other countries where film photography is very much more alive. I share my photos on my social media platforms to support the campaign on keeping this craft alive. Because many of us believe that as long as there is one film photographer alive, #filmisnotdead.

Prose-titute

I love writing prose. They make good captions to photos. And I think it's pretty genius coming up with that header (lol give this one to me, will ya?). It makes sense since I'm apparently going to get credits from writing prose. So expect to see my film outputs with these stuff.

So that's it. There are other things but they're too random to be worthy of lengthy paragraphs. Just watch out for them when my creative juices come oozing out.

Also, here is a validation photo of me. Made in the PH, 100% Authentic!

Dont hate, appreciate!

Hi Saiya, great introductory post you got here. I really like the sense of humor in your writing. Already looking forward to more of your posts.

Why choose film photography then over digital knowing that the use and market for it has dwindled down with the continuing advancement in tech?

Thank you! It's nice knowing my sense of humor got past the corn field. Haha!

Well, it's not that I choose film over digital. I still use a digital camera when taking pictures. In fact, I use my smartphone all the time. I just find it fun going back to old practices where we'd use to save our film for the best moments, get frustrated with the long wait for photos to get developed, and feel the satisfaction of finally getting them printed. For me, it's nostalgic and amazing cause I was able to experience the transition, being a 90's kid, from analog to digital. It's a plus that the market is down since prices for film cameras have gone down as well. I got mine for Php 5000 less. It's not brand new, but works just as fine. The downside is, films have become more expensive and processors rare. However, I was able to find a small network of people who are into film as well and because of that, sources of films and processing are not to worry about. :)

Ohh okay, so it really is for nostalgia. Maybe something similar is retro gaming, like despite it being outdated, a lot of people still want to play like super mario and the likes just for nostalgia.

Sort of, yeah. I'd play Super Mario again in an actual family computer (isn't that what we used to call the console?) if given the chance. As a kid I never made it past World 3. Haha! I mean, if these stuff can still be done today, then why not?

Hello funny Saiya, I'm Joey, and I grew the balls, I mean the ovaries, or I mean maybe the oatmeal, to write to you, too, or maybe not since I love writing and stuff, but you are pretty cute and smart and funny, and the ocean is pretty big full of mysteries and I wonder what is on the bottom of the ocean floors. I don't like pollution and I love sea life and hope for the best for life on earth as we depend on them and everything. You are pretty cool. Love your cute glasses.

Hello Joey! Wow. I like the oatmeal. 👈 I guess what they usually say is true, 'you are what you eat.' I am not sure about cute though, I stand 5'5''. That goes probably way beyond the cute meter. Haha! And about the ocean bottom, I, too, often wonder but it's terrifying. I should just probably see stuff under the microscope than do so underwater. Lastly, the glasses are too often necessary because life as we know it is unfair and apparently it doesn't always come so clear for all people. Haha! Thank you for reading my post. 🤓

Saiya, yeah, life isn't always clear and that is why we have glasses and microscopes and telescopes.

HALA YOU'RE HERE!!! <3 Karon rako ka steemit balik. Welcome!!! Chada kay kag posts. Of course, ikaw nagud na hahaha. Lablab! <3
