Maroua : a book lover, an unknown poet, an amateur photographer, a PhD student and a Steemit newbie

Hi everyone, my name is Maroua. I just recently read about Steemit on Quora and I was so curious that I googled it and read a lot about it. I loved the idea of it and how new and innovative it is so I decided to join you guys :D

I'm a big fan of books and reading in general. I remember being that small kid who took her parents magazines and read them without understanding what they were all about. Fortunately, my parents saw how passionate I was so they started buying me short stories. There was this nice collection called (المكتبة الخضراء) in arabic, it means the Green Library, which contained children stories such as the Princess and the Snake, the Secret of the White Beard and The Fair King. They were well written, entertaining and full of good values.

In 3rd grade, my dad bought a big Encyclopedia about different scientific topics that were simplified for children to understand, it was like Christmas for my young, curious mind. Since then, I took every chance to read about new things and immediately be transferred to places I never visited, be characters I never dreamed of and lead lives I never experienced. However, once I entered high school, I felt the urge to write my own things and since then I started writing poetry and very short stories. I will share some of them here and I hope you'll enjoy them.

Recently, I took on photography because as the proverb goes "A picture is worth a thousand words". Here are some of the pictures I took.

I also love languages! My mother tongue is Arabic, I learned French in school and taught myself English. For now, I'm learning Korean because I love the Korean culture, and hopefully, in the future I'll be able to speak German. It is such a beautiful language!

Last but not least, I'm still in college. A Ph.D student, doing research in artificial intelligence and image processing.
