Finding my niche

Hello esteemed steemians, am really happy to be here.

Steemit has turned out to be a platform that I've grown to love so much. I'm literally addicted to steemit and I don't regret it.

My first month on steemit after I was introduced by @amagod was totally clueless and unproductive. I was often at a loss on what to write about. I was almost at the verge of giving up.

Then came the @STACH short story contest #21. I've always been a good story teller and I have this thing for essays and writing articles. I applied and took part in the contest. That was the turning point for me!

I instantly realized that my niche was fiction. I didn't really have to stress myself too much anytime I started writing. It just comes to me and all I need do is let it flow.

These days, I literally spend all my time on steemit, creating valuable content, motivating myself and motivating others.

To my fellow minnows out there, it may seem difficult and clueless initially but don't quit. It'll pass. If I could find my niche, then you'll definitely find yours!

I am grateful for having people like @surpassinggoogle, @terminallyill @ejemai, the @stach community and #minders.

Happy steeming everyone!

Hello, @mapens and Welcome to Steemit.

It's a simple fact that most Steemians get off to slow starts (even those who try starting fast. :-)

But with persistence and passion, things eventually turn around. After a few months of dedicated input, they (and you) will realize that their number of followers is growing, that their voting power is growing, and that their rewards are increasing.

So, definitely, it's worth the effort.

I noticed that you like to write. Just 2 weeks ago, I also organized a mini writing contest to celebrate reaching 1,000 followers.

I asked participants for a "photo description" of a photo that I presented. Interestingly, most of the entries were essentially fiction.

I hope you'll participate in my "2,000th Follower Contest," in a few months. ...

Below are a few basic points of advice re posting on Steemit.

  1. Longer posts are more lucrative than short posts. If you make a post of 20–30 paragraphs, it's more likely to earn rewards.
  2. Include some photos, images or graphs, to complement the text.
  3. Make sure the text and photos are formatted properly, so that your post looks attractive and appealing.
  4. Be yourself.
  5. Be interesting and informative.
  6. Create quality content. Steemit is intended to be a platform of quality content. (You will see many insignificant posts with meager content and no quality. Most of those of posts [called “shitposts” by Steemit whale Stellabelle] will earn few rewards and soon pass into oblivion.)
  7. Get online and start curating. Read various posts, comment on those posts you find interesting, and upvote those posts. That’s the best way to attract followers.

Hope this helps for now. Good luck, and Full Steem Ahead!

Thanks @majes.tytyty
