I have a tiny one but it's honestly not worth it. I can do this with just one monitor. Hell, I just read this story about a guy who steems with just one arm. @Handsolo is the man.

You're doing just fine with one monitor, by the way. :) It's steemers like you that keep us minnows going.
A healthy ecosystem has to be chalk full of all kinds of fish and mammals. The reality is that we're all in this together and we all make it valuable together. If this crazy thing is going to work, that's how it has to work.
Indeed, bacteria are part of the healthy ecosystem too. :) Our digestive system would not function without those little buggers.
That probably doesn't have much do with Steemit, but yes, it's going to work. It will never be perfect, but it's going to work in it's own way, and the more diverse the... steemerbase... the better it will be.
