Introduction: who am I and my story of epic failure part 2
This is the part 2 of my introduction story if you haven't read part 1 make sure you do here.
Ok so where was I...oh yeah back to square 1 no money, no knowledge (it was just 1-2 years later that I realized how much have I learned) and no million dollars either. It was time to move along with my life now but did I? Hell no! I was determined to learn the game no matter what but first I needed to acquire more capital (again). So I took the money I had left from my bank account, borrowed some from my parents as well (which you can imagine have not been especially thrilled when they found out I got smacked in the market) and flew my ass in the UK, London more precisely and got back to working minimum wage jobs like I did in the US.
Let me tell you something guys the British weather isn't very friendly with people that have a sensible respiratory system especially if you come from a very different climate area. Long story short my stay in the UK was 6 months out of which 4 I was coughing my lungs out and wiping my nose every 2 minutes. Not fun but never mind my precarious health situation I was here to make money and save as much as I can if I wanted another shot at this.
I was working in a restaurant in the center of London, most of the time though it felt like a mad house managers running all over the place, yelling at the waiters and the kitchen staff, dishes dropping from the hands of waiters that were carrying too much food at once to meet the demand...yes you can say it was a busy place. Every. Single. Day.
I consider myself a patient person there's not much someone can do to push my buttons but oh man a few times I had to really channel my inner Buddha not to slap someone silly. All in all working in a stressful environment like that one for a few months made me an even calmer person than before. Having drunk Ukrainian flat mates passed out in our kitchen floor most of the weekends helped in that regard as well.
So here I am in April 2017 after 6 months in the UK with some money saved ready to head back home...for a few weeks. I used part of that money to finance another summer work & travel program in the US again.
May 28th I said hello to Massachusetts a state which I really like. I went on grinding again even harder than before, got myself 3 jobs this time which was a little overwhelming since not only the only free time I had was sleep time I also had to constantly review my schedules for each job and manage my time properly making sure nothing overlapped. As I've mentioned above I was determined to get another shot at trading.
Yeah that's me in front of MIT.
My summer flew just like that and again I was back home getting ready to start trading again. I had some $$ now and was preparing myself mentally to do this again...after my first try I really didn't want to end up in the same spot again.
The thing I didn't mention was that during this whole year of "acquiring capital" I also followed the market everyday and some successful traders that I know on twitter. Watching everyday the stocks they traded, why they entered here, why did they exit there, saving charts and tagging them. I wanted to understand all the why's and seeing that many of them were trading the same stocks daily that was interesting for me and after 1.5 years of doing this I did start to see some similarities, some intraday charts that were always looking the same day after day, different stocks but the same pattern. So I was like "Ok great. This is a start still a long way ahead though but a start". I was also reading all the blog posts, tweets and everything else there was that these guys were posting and trying to absorb as much useful information as possible which helped as well.
After 3 years of trial and error I had finally a green month (I had green days and green weeks before as well but I always managed to blow it up in the end) small one...but after 7 months of huge red months I consider this a big progress I had found somewhat of a consistency for now. Am I "there yet" ? Hell no! There are many more mountains to climb from here this is just the beginning. In the financial district there's an endless supply of information there is always something to learn. Fundamentals, technicals, psychological factors and money management. Endless.
Will I be able to make it from here or do I need to blow up another account or two? Who knows either way I'm not worried, most of the people who are already where I want to get have blown 5-6 accounts before they finally managed to get it together.
One thing I did learn for sure is that nobody can teach you trading. You can take some useful information from the pros here and there but everybody needs to find their own style which needs to fit their personality like a glove.
There are many ways to make money in the stock market, find yours.
Now that you know a little bit about me I will be posting some thoughts, watch lists (if I find something mildly interesting), reviews and maybe some trades if there is something for others to learn from them in future posts.
Thanks for reading. Peace.
