Hello To All! Farmer/Homesteader/Prepper Here..

There have been so many new ones joining, I thought I would take a moment to get re-aquainted.

My name is Andi and I'm a homesteader and home school mom from Florida. We aren't off-grid (yet) thanks to local laws requiring power service, but we do the best we can to keep it to a minimum.

We have cows, chickens, pigs, turkeys, quail, and almost 10,000 square feet of garden area.

During the growing season, we are able to produce nearly 80% of our own food! We are striving for 90 next year, and hopefully longer growing seasons. We are working with land that had never been worked before, so it is A LOT of sand just yet.

I love reading other peoples' experiences, especially gardening, livestock, water cachement, organic practices, using less oil products, and living off-grid. We are also "preppers", which by now everyone should be as the natural and man-made disasters are just about everywhere all the time these days!

So I'm looking forward to "meeting" others from around the world!! STEEM ON!

Hey, @farmandadventure. So sorry to post this here, but I found another steemit user reposting my videos without permission, and while I was delving, I found one of yours too. I'm not sure if they are steemit-ignorant, or trying to pull a fast one, so I'll let you respond as you see appropriate!

Wow, it looks like their whole blog is reposts. Definitely frowned upon when people actually say its their own work, but they dont really say that either. It's implied. Arrrrgh. They need to include the original creators' link if they are gonna share our work. Thanks for the heads up!

Ok, I left them a reply on the post with my video. Geez, they couldve at least picked a better one of mine Lol

Haha, it does seem like the selection is super random. I reached out to them to let them know I'd help them if they were new to Steemit and wanted to know how to share content with respect (maybe they don't know how to resteem?), but it seems that there's just tons of blogs out here that exist soley to repost other content and follow-beg. I try to follow what "real" people I can find! Glad you are one of those.

ALSO, lovely intro post, haha! Are those your quail in the first photo, or Easter Egger chickens (the eggs look blue)?

I gave them the benefit of the doubt that they are new and just dont know the ins and outs yet.
The chicken is my sons. I beleive she is a cream-leg-bar. She was hatching them the week of the hurricane and we ended up putting her whole habitat inside a very large oak tree and then wrapped it in avian netting. She absolutely refused to go anywhere else! So she and the chicks made it fine and now she brings them to my window every morning to wake me up Lol

That's so happy to hear! What a good mama chicken.

Growing 80% of your food is simply amazing these days. Keep up the good homesteading! @ironshield

Welcome to Steemit! This was a great post. Thank you for sharing. I'll be sure to keep an eye out for you future work! I think you might like my work as well so feel free to take a look sometime.

Hi, I'm George. Welcome to Steemit. Feel free to interact with people, ask questions where you are confused and make friends. Here in Steemit, we love each other as family.

Beautiful introduction like yourself

Thanks for reintroducing yourself. Our goal is to become as self-sufficient as possible. You never know when a disaster will occur. And sometimes we have no choice but to very quickly as in the case of Tsunami...

Hey Welcome to Steemit. Glad to have you here. I liked your pictures. Feel free to ask any question you may have. You can follow me @kingbach , I'd follow you right back. We can grow together.
