We come from the remnants of an old empire intending not to be defined as subjects of a new one. We are the tone of a voice no one dares to reach to. The undermined residents of a false utopia. The hardcore truth seekers from the other side of the pond, which have anointed themselves as some sort of salvation in the current conditions of global events, by shaping reality from a former outlook. A redemption to modernity, within a framework of forsaken and revolutionary values which beheld the showpiece of ancient glory, prowess and honour. We have come to Steemit to shake the wraith of our counterparts and invigorate their spirits. The upheaval of the grounds of modern life is a necessity in order to connect with your past, reshape your present and control your future.

We expect to influence our readers by presenting the vigorousness of our culture. The subjective unconscious of our collective human Blockchain can be reshaped, rebalanced and reformed in order to recover the greatness that is far long lost. 

These words, written from within the magical land of Colombia, the beloved country in which the Team Members of DISTOPIA live, love and write. As forgotten westerners and with our old fashioned and melancholic content, we wish to provide our readers on Steemit with stories crafted within the heart of our jungle and framed by the disappearance of our ancestors. Stories that reveal the harsh context in which they became immortal in our history. We want to share with Steemit the passion that we as sons and daughters of our forefathers Greek and Romans uphold in the mixed womb of our ancient mystic indigenous cultures and african rebels. All of this, by contextualising the struggles of our daily life in this wonderful developing and pushful country. 

               

We would like to begin our journey in Steemit by introducing our first team member and editor in chief. His name is Juan and he's the creator of DISTOPIA. He is a political scientist and linguistic professional fluent in Spanish, English, German, Portuguese and French. Juan is 24 years old. He was born in Cartagena, a city swayed by the waves of the caribbean sea, covered by a mighty coral wall and grizzled in tales of pirates and treasonous mistresses.

"I find Steemit as the perfect network to connect those marvellous stories from Colombia and Latin America which go beyond the common stereotypes of the sad and muckraking mainstream media. DISTOPIA is not about some story that fits an agenda of despair. DISTOPIA is about us as a nation, as westerners, as millennials and entities of this complex and challenging world" said while tussling a tuft of hair against his fingers. Then he added "and I'm very happy and positive we'll do it for the Internet 3.0, for the Blockchain technology, for Steemit". 

Juan is currently writing a story of a mighty local legend who battled an army of more than 26000 men and 180 ships at the Bay of Cartagena in the year 1741. The year in which the world saw the greatness of the Spanish Empire once again, in a battle to be considered as the second greatest naval combat bore out by mankind, only overshadowed two centuries later by the Invasion of Normandy in World War II. 

         

Tomorrow we will submit our first story. Mario, a Venezuelan immigrant to Colombia with fascinating photography skills, unravels the human phantoms forgotten and buried by the eclectic city of Cartagena. These spectres forgotten by the inclemency of the modern inhabitants of the city will shine a light of collective existence once again, and Mario has got the secret… the only way to bring them back to life is… an iPhone and a myriad of selfies.
